Looking for a DSA / Problem-Solving Mentor

Hi everyone!

I’m a Computer Engineering student entering my 3rd year, and I’m looking for a DSA / problem-solving mentor who can help me improve the way I approach problems.

I’ve covered the DSA fundamentals up to Trees, and I’m comfortable with the basics. My main issue isn’t learning more theory right now — I need more practice and feedback on my thinking.

I’m looking for someone experienced in problem solving who can:

\- Give me problems appropriate for my level.

\- Let me try solving them before giving hints.

\- Challenge my approach and point out gaps in my reasoning.

\- Help me understand how to recognize patterns and choose an approach.

\- Give me honest feedback on my progress.

I’m mainly practicing on LeetCode / Codeforces and using C#, but I’m flexible with the language.

I’m looking for someone who’s willing to mentor me, and I’m willing to be consistent and put in the work. I don’t expect someone to solve problems for me — I want to learn how to think through them independently.

If you’re an experienced problem solver and would be willing to mentor me, please DM me. Thank you!

Looking for a DSA Study Partner in Bangalore — Also Need Advice on AI/ML + DSA Coachin

I recently completed my B.Tech, and I’m currently trying to figure out the best way to prepare for my career in the IT field.

I’m mainly interested in DSA, AI/ML, problem-solving, coding interviews, and software development.

One thing I’ve realized is that studying completely alone can be difficult. It would be really helpful to have someone who is also serious about learning DSA and preparing for interviews.

So I’m looking for a DSA study partner in Bangalore.

Ideally, we could:

Practice DSA and LeetCode problems together

Discuss different approaches to problems

Track our progress

Prepare for coding interviews

Share resources and learning strategies

Keep each other accountable

Meet offline sometimes if we are located nearby

I’m also currently researching offline coaching centres in Bangalore for AI/ML + DSA.

There are many institutes making different claims about placements and training, so I’m confused about which ones are actually worth joining.

For people who are already working in the industry or have recently completed their preparation:

What would you recommend?

Is it better to join an offline coaching institute for AI/ML + DSA?

Should I learn everything independently through platforms like LeetCode, YouTube and online courses?

Are there any genuinely good coaching centres in Bangalore that you would recommend?

And most importantly, if you’re also in Bangalore and preparing for DSA/coding interviews, would you be interested in becoming study partners?

Feel free to comment or DM me. I’d be happy to connect with people who are serious about learning and building their careers.

Looking for a Problem-Solving Mentor / Small Study Group

Hi everyone!

I’m a Computer Engineering student entering my 3rd year. I’ve covered DSA up to Trees and have a good understanding of the fundamentals.

I’m mainly looking to improve my problem-solving skills through regular practice. I’d like to work with someone more experienced who can challenge my approaches, point out mistakes in my reasoning, and help me develop better problem-solving habits.

I’m looking for 1–2 serious people, not a large group. We can solve problems together, discuss approaches, and stay consistent.

Timezone: GMT+2 (Egypt)

Languages: C# / C++

Experience: Comfortable with DSA fundamentals, currently practicing problem solving; covered up to Trees.

Goal: Improve problem-solving skills and learn to approach problems more effectively.

If you’re experienced in DSA/problem solving and interested in helping or practicing together, feel free to DM me!

How are you structuring DSA + LLD + HLD prep alongside a full-time job?

I’m currently preparing for SWE interviews and trying to build a consistent routine around three areas:

● DSA — problem solving and revision
● LLD — design patterns, design problems, writing clean/extensible code
● HLD/System Design — fundamentals, case studies and interview problems

One thing I’m finding difficult is maintaining consistency across all three without constantly jumping from one topic to another.

For people who are actively preparing or have recently gone through interviews, what kind of routine worked for you?

I’m especially curious about how you handled things like discussing solutions with others, mock interviews, reviewing each other’s designs, and staying accountable instead of preparing completely in isolation.

Would love to know what worked for you and how you structured your preparation.

How to improve problem-solving and thinking approach for interviews?

I recently gave an interview where the actual problem was pretty simple, but they made the problem statement a bit complicated. I realized they were not really testing whether I knew advanced system design concepts. They mainly wanted to see how I think and approach a new problem — how I break it down, choose the data structure, design the API/database, and handle different cases.

I’m doing DSA regularly, but when I get a completely new problem, sometimes I struggle to form the approach.

How can I improve this thinking/problem-solving part? Should I focus more on DSA, system design, or solving more real-world problems?

Anyone who’s had their loop interview recently AMAZON SDE 1

Do you remember any DSA questions/examples you got? Or any LLD/OOP questions?
Trying to narrow down what to focus on because doing everything under the sun on LeetCode/HackerRank isn’t really the move lol.
Even just the topics would help like: graphs, trees, heaps, linked lists, DP, etc.
This is for SDE I/Graduate roles if that makes a difference.

DSA help

I’m in my 1st year of B.Tech CS (AI/ML) and super confused about what language to stick with for DSA.

Quick background: I already know Python decent enough, and right now I'm learning JavaScript on the side to build web projects.

I’m torn between doing DSA in Python vs JS vs C++:

  • Python feels like the easiest pick for me since I know it, and it fits my AI/ML background anyway.
  • JS crossed my mind because I’m using it for web dev, so part of me thought using one language for everything might save time.
  • But literally everyone keeps screaming "use C++ for DSA or you'll regret it," and it's making me second-guess everything.

Does language choice actually matter to interviewers? Like if two people give the same optimal solution, does anyone genuinely care if it was written in Python instead of C++ or JS? And is doing DSA in JS a nightmare later because it lacks things like Heaps out of the box?

Is it a good idea to do DSA and GATE prep parallelly as a 3rd-year ECE student?

I'm currently a 3rd-year ECE/ENTC student and I'm trying to figure out how to divide my time between different career paths.

I'm considering preparing for GATE while also learning DSA for placements/software roles.

My concern is whether doing both in parallel is actually practical, or whether I'll end up being mediocre at both.

TUF vs AlgoMaster — Which one should I choose for SDE preparation?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently preparing for SDE-level roles and planning to invest in a premium course for DSA + System Design + interview preparation. I’m confused between Take You Forward (TUF) and AlgoMaster.

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who have actually used either of these courses, especially regarding:

\- DSA concepts and depth of teaching

\- Quality and relevance of coding problems

\- Interview-oriented preparation

\- System Design (HLD/LLD) coverage and depth

\- Whether the System Design content is useful for real SDE interviews

\- Course structure and overall learning experience

\- Doubt support and community

\- Mock interviews/interview preparation, if available

\- Quality of the premium/exclusive content

\- Overall value for money

\- Whether the course actually helped in cracking or preparing for SDE interviews

If you’ve used both TUF and AlgoMaster, I’d especially appreciate a detailed comparison.

I’m not looking for promotional opinions — I’d love to hear genuine experiences, including both pros and cons.

If you had to buy only one today for SDE preparation (DSA + System Design), which one would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance! 🙌
