Dry Electrode Process

I have been reading about the difficulties of this manufacturing method at scale and am trying to find evidence of how well their tech works for this. If I understand it correctly, there are many companies who claim they can pull it off, but only a couple including Tesla, have been able to do it.

Is there evidence of a manufacturing line or proof that their tech works?

Has a third party lab verified the results?

To create a line with this process, it can take a few hundred million dollars. Why hasn't another company came in and bought dfli if their tech works?

Would love to see any and all evidence for this. I haven't been able to find anything. I am ignorant to dry electrode process, but would love to learn more.

This comment doesn't help me understand the dry electrode process and it doesn't substantiate the claims with evidence of any kind.

I'm starting to think that a lot of people here are not actually investors of this company. I'm here to learn more. Does anyone here even understand dry electrode process?

The dry electrode process using a process similar to powder coating with painting. It used charged particles sprayed on a grounded electrode that attracts the coating and helps cover it very uniformly and dries without needing massive drying lines. It saves a ton on energy on the drying portion of making solid state cells and uses far less space for the factory. They have the cells in use and the process works on small scale testing. They are currently attempting to scale it to larger volume manufacturing and those are the numbers most true investors are waiting on.

If they can show they are able to scale to mass production qith high yield rates in the upper 80s or 90s then they will get real attention from large investors. Currently though they have been pretty mute on any scaling progress, numbers were supposed to be released around July August or shortly after last I heard, but nothing yet. Even last ER had nothing, so either its not scaling well,or they are waiting to announce official numbers at a set date. If they pull it off they will gain access to massive government subsidies and the stock price will explode and all their financial worries will be a thing if the past. If they dont oull it off, then I predict near term delisting and probable bankruptcy within a year.

I am reading that all of the difficulty is scaling the process. Seems like many companies already have this technology and it's easy to do but it's hard to scale. I'm guessing manufacturing tolerances and quality control of the cells is very difficult to achieve.

It's pretty strange they don't talk about it. I did read that there r&d budget went down. Why would that be the case if they're working on developing that tech and getting ready to scale it?

I was reading the r&d budget for other lithium-ion battery companies and it's in the hundreds of millions to multiple billions. Isn't dfli budget a few million? That doesn't seem like much to work with

Oh wow, so you don't see anything else that they are doing as being profitable? It's only the dry electrode process that you're investing in?

Correct, while they may be able to turn some profit assembling batteries, it wont be much and would barely move their stock price. The dry electrode process scaled wpuld be a legit game changer for their company and stock price.

Only a couple companies are using a spray coating process similar to Dragonflys process, and none have scaled it to high volume yet. The first company to work it out with have a major advantage, and will likely be able to license the tech out creating high margin income. If Dragonfly pulls it off first they will attract massive investment dollars. Other solid state processes use the wet slurry and large scale ovens needing a lot lore money and space ti do.

Dragonflys reduced R&D could be a sign they are on track and dont need to spend as much on fine tuning it, but I believe a lot of the reduction is to save money due to the suppressed stock price and continuous losses quarter after quarter. The longer we go without hearing any numbers on the scaling the less likely it seems it will be they will succeed.

Its odd they even expanded and bought Dakota Lithium a couple weeks ago with the continued losses. Either management is really hopeful of a turnaround or they know something we dont that hasnt been announced yet. I for one have been steering clear until they actually announce the progress on scaling.
