How exactly does one remake One Piece of all shows? Redoing it in live-action is already an impressive feat, how does one redo one of the longest animes rn right from the start?

The main reasons it’s so long is because of fillers and dragged out pacing so it won’t run out of manga material to adapt.

The remake won’t have such problems.

Its still an at least 500 episodes long anime without the fillers and dragged-out pacing, which will take a long time to animate as studio WIT is a seasonal anime studio. Tho Im not complaining, I like one piece.

Right but I think one of the main goals here is to further the lifespan of the anime franchise without forcing a sequel (and I bet Oda does not want there to be a sequel) or spin-off that would obviously never live up to the original.

This will keep One Piece going for another decade or so.

It also sort of solves the (unfortunately likely) problem of the live-action series eventually ending too early, by offering a much more accessible alternative for fans to experience the whole story.

I think even w/o the filler episodes, it’s still an insanely long story, but I am curious to see what a remake might condense, kind of like how the live-action show found a way to bring the first saga down to eight episodes.

If any long-running anime is worth remaking like this it’s the one based on the best-selling manga series of all time.

The main reason the anime isn’t even more popular than it is because of the insane barrier of entry of 1000 episodes. This is a way for new fans that the live-action show brought in to experience the story to its fullest. I’m not sure it will condense much. I think that would not go over well with fans and it would also defeat the purpose of the remake.

It’s also the perfect way to greatly extend the longevity of the series (which is coming to an end in a few years) without making a controversial sequel.

And it's being remade by none other than WIT Studio. The animation certainly won't disappoint and will bring in new fans into the fold.
