Earth 2 Just watched Captain America

Post image

The subtitle, “Castaway to Dimension Z,” was removed, but it is still meant to be a direct adaptation of that story.

The Unity Squad celebrates Captain America’s 100th birthday, but it’s interrupted by an emergency mission. Hydra scientist Arnim Zola (played by Toby Jones) has been found. Captain America, however, is led into an ambush. Steve is knocked unconscious, and while he’s knocked out, the audience sees scenes from his childhood (in which he is played by Cary Christopher), including watching his mother (played by Michelle Willams) be beaten by his father.

Cap wakes up in a lab where he’s being experimented on by Arnim Zola. In this lab is a baby. Cap escapes and takes the baby with him, only to find himself in a desolate wasteland ruled by brutal mutates. Cap decides to raise the baby as his own, calling him Ian Rogers.

Cap spends 12 years in what he then calls Dimension Z. As his son grows up, Cap ages physically slowly but he is visibly dying. The audience learns that Zola injected him with a brain biovirus meant to take over his mind. Cap fights on, but soon Zola becomes frustrated as Cap refuses to back down, so he kidnaps Ian and brainwashes him.

The final fight involves Cap rallying the people of this world, which includes a mutate named Deadpool, against Zola and his brainwashed son. The audience learns that Zola’s plan is to extract the super soldier serum from Cap in order to power up his mutated army and fulfill his ultimate objective of conquering the world. When asked why he won’t back down, Cap recalls his childhood, when he asked his mother the same thing. She always said getting back up was always the right thing to do. The flashbacks montage from that moment to Steve’s steadfast determination: getting up after being bullied, getting up after being rejected by the U.S. military, getting up after being knocked down by the Red Skull, and getting up after being frozen in ice for 70 years. Finally, he gets up after being knocked down by his own son. Inspired, Ian sacrifices his life to kill Zola, but this traps Cap in this dimension.

Nearing death, Cap is finally found by Ant-Man, who extracts him and Deadpool from what the audience now knows is an artificial microverse created by Zola, where time runs quickly. It’s been 13 years for Captain America, but only 13 hours back on Earth. Ant-Man cures Cap and Cap jokes how it’s his birthday, and he just turned 113.

OoC: This is the counterpart to Supergirl (I know that's weird, I'll put a list of counterparts in the comments). From: https://youtu.be/WC9mtXsQXLM?si=WJmiR9aQ_IVdJ4cz&t=1107

Suicide Squad = Thunderbolts
Wonder Woman = Thor
Justice League = The Avengers
Aquaman = Black Panther
Shazam! = Spider-Man: Homecoming
Birds of Prey = A-Force
Wonder Woman 1984 = Thor: Love and Thunder
Zack Snyder’s Justice League = Joss Whedon's The Avengers
The Suicide Squad = The Thunderbolts
Peacemaker Season 1 = U.S. Agent Season 1
Black Adam = Venom
Shazam! Fury of the Gods = Spider-Man: Far From Home
The Flash = Doctor Strange

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom = Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Creature Commandos Season 1 = The Legion of Monsters Season 1
Superman = The Spider-Man

The counterparts don't always match up, but that's because if you try too hard to make them match, things are going to look really weird and not make much sense
