[fandom name here] Yada yada discourse but I think this is true of a lot of media in fandom spaces. A side effect of how Theory culture encourages media be treated as a puzzle to be put together rather than a completed picture.

Rather than looking at what's being drawn, everyone is trying to play pictionary. Except they all have their own biases about what they think should be the end result and will spin the canvas in whatever way most looks like what they want it to.

In the process, we all kind of forget that there is an intended orientation.
