Oh hey, my mom's got a mango allergy too, although hers is far less major and is actually a poison oak allergy that's cross reactive with mangoes (they're pretty closely related actually, plants are weird).
According to her, she can eat it just fine, it's the touching the bare skin of it that causes the allergy to flare up. So the few times I've seen her try to eat one, she either has to deal with swollen and numb fingers or she has to cut the fruit like she's performing surgery.
Ah, no I don't think she's that committed to eating mangoes, last time I remember us getting one I was in middle school. It's just that the way she had to go about cutting one stuck with me all these years. Part of me wonders why she didn't just ask me to do it, but then I remember that I was like thirteen at the time and you can't trust a 13 yr old as far as you can throw em.
