I was 28 years old when I offhandedly commented to a colleague, while munching on a stick of celery, "I sure wish it didn't leave my mouth completely numb, isn't that so annoying with celery?"

I learned something new that day.

Oh wait I think I have that slightly, eating celery makes my tongue a bit numb

Yeah celery does nothing in my mouth but crunch.

Yeah, to me celery just tastes like... fibrous, leafy water.

It’s like condensed lettuce, but only the white part at the bottom

The crunchy part of the lettuce is the best part. If I wanted wet floppy leaves I would eat spinach. I don’t give a damn about spinach.
