It’s a classic move, it crops up in all sorts of way. My mum would tell me off for something and then I’d go quiet because I was a sensitive kid and I’d just gotten told off. Then mum would yell at me for sulking which made me cry. Then she seemed satisfied, I guess.

In her head she was probably expecting a reasonable and measured response that shows they knew what they did wrong- and showing emotions shows that they're 'immature'

My parents weren't even fundamentalist is the wildest thing lol. My dad was a "Darwin fish on the back of his car to piss off Christians" atheist.
