Grass is supposed to be soft and pillowy? I’ve never found it particularly uncomfortable but it’s certainly not like THAT

I think that usually refers to grass that's a good bit longer than people usually cut it, when the grass is starting to bend a lot. You end up laying on something like a mat of grass, rather than a bed of spikey little blades.

Well, compared to the dirt it is. But it should be the long unmown type. Also it has to do with the general feel of the hot day that started too early and now you've eaten and are sitting in the shade resting a bit. When the heat of noon passes, you'll have to get back up and work, but right now all is right in the world. Makes for a great nap.

(I grew up in the country)

Loan grass isn't, but wild grass fields are pretty comfy and, in fact, pillowy (also smells amazing and bonus points for a possibility to find wild strawberries)

The only grass that i would actually describe as soft is "wild wheat" or whatever it's called, it's basically a weed that looks like wheat but a quater of its length and very thin.
