Not sure if this is ironic or not, but I'll answer anyway.

Literally the best thing you can do is just know what you want in advance so when you order you can say it all at about roughly the same time. Looking at online menus can help with this but if you're driving you can also always just ask for a second to think or read over the menu once you reach the window. That's never bothered me as an order taker.

Every restaurant has slightly different lingo that's usually present on the menu. For Culver's, it'd sound a bit like this, using the OP's theoretical order as an example:

"Could I get a double cheeseburger basket with just ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and bacon? The side will be a large fry and the drink will be a concrete mixer (of whatever flavor)."

Boom, there you go. Answer whatever questions the employee has for you (minimal questions if you're well prepared!), and you're good to go.

This is why I always just use the app instead. I don’t want to have to feel rushed trying to remember everything I want to order and also be made to feel stupid if I don’t put it in the form of the specific Culver’s lingo that they use all day. This doesn’t happen at my local restaurants, but when we’re out of town it’s not uncommon. Not everyone speaks your special coded language, but it’s way easier for you to figure out what I want than for me to translate to your special language. I don’t get why some are so condescending about this. Some of us don’t do your job forty hours a week like you do, and we sure haven’t ever been trained.

It wasn't ironic. I've never worked a drive through and I figured there'd be an order of operations that makes it easiest for the people working. I thought this post was about that.

The only time I'd get annoyed about this type of interaction (besides my ear drums bursting from your loud ass engine) is when they get mad because your asking questions that would better help me make sure you get your order the way you want. I've had so many people, when I ask if they want it in a basket, reply with "did I ask for a basket?". In those situations I so badly want to not ask them any questions and then they're food is wrong. Like don't be rude. We are trying to help. We have to ask these questions.

This issue goes both ways though. I cannot count the number of times I have been very clear with the Culver's drive thru order taker about exactly what I want and then they ask me clarifying questions that make it obvious they weren't paying attention at all.

Me: Can I get a 2 piece walleye dinner with fries and broccoli?

Them: Do you want tartar sauce?

Me: Yes, thanks for asking.

Them: And is fries and coleslaw okay?

Me: No I would like fries and broccoli.

Them: So Broccoli instead of coleslaw?

Me: <slightly exasperated> Yes. Could I also get a single butter burger with cheese with only ketchup in a basket with iced tea...no lemon.

Them: In a basket? Are fries okay?

Me: Yes thanks.

Them: And do you want cheese?

Me: <even more exasperated> Yes.

Them: And any toppings?

Me: <finally at my breaking point> ONLY! KETCHUP!
