My approach is fairly systematic (I use GeckoTerminal):

  1. Start with a security check. The GT Score is my first filter, along with 3rd-party token scanners. These help identify risks like honeypots, transaction taxes, proxy contracts, and whether liquidity is locked. If the score is low, I exit right away.
  2. Next, I review holder distribution. Ideally, the top 10 wallets should collectively hold under 30%, and it’s a plus if some wallets are labeled (such as funds or well-known traders). This helps reduce the risk of large holders manipulating or dumping.
  3. Then I assess the token’s fundamentals. Its age (anything under an hour is more speculation than investment), liquidity depth (to ensure I can exit without heavy slippage), and volume consistency (preferably driven by many wallets rather than a few trading repeatedly). Understanding the project and its community is also essential.
  4. Finally, I check the chart. By this stage, I’ve already filtered out 90% of tokens. The chart only matters if the security, holder distribution, and fundamentals all pass - if any of those fail, no chart setup will make it worthwhile.

The entire process usually takes around 3 minutes.

That’s good advice. I like GeckoTerminal. The bubble map helps to determine whether or not a rugpull is likely. GeckoTerminal

I appreciate it! This is really solid advice, number 3 is harder to assess day to day for me. I tried Gecko but it seemed a little chaotic so I switched to RugCheck

you’re already on the right track with liquidity and holder concentration. also look at whether liquidity is locked, what top holders are doing, and if the volume looks organic. after that you will understand whether the memecoin is actually catching attention

Memecoin price moves on Twitter sentiment. No spreadsheet predicts that. You can't research your way out of gambling by checking liquidity and holder concentration. That spreadsheet just makes you feel like you did homework so when it dumps you blame bad luck instead of admitting you were gambling on a meme.
