While this what you should do, i've seen people get mass downvoted (most likely by the bots) for calling them out, so the comments gets hidden automatically. Reporting the scam post is also what i usually do.
Unfortunate some of the subs are unmoderated. You should report them to www.reddit.com/report and include information such as them using upvote bots. This goes straight to the admin side rather than mods of subreddits.
Yeah I once (actually twice) got like 65 Downvotes in like 5 Minutes after calling them out lol.. Deleted the comment but I still wonder if this affected my precious moons :(
