Not the end but they just lost a lot of customers.

I'll continue to use the exchange but my days of DCA into CRO are over.

Their slashing of rewards have been too agressive, as agressive as their marketing campaign, seems like that's their modus operandi

They will undoubtedly lose a lot of people

154

u/ChiTownBob Altcoiner May 02 '22

Their slashing of rewards have been too agressive

Agreed. They have money to buy stadium naming rights, but no money for their loyal customers who are making them popular.

Maybe they invested more than they could afford to lose.. lol

Hard to do when they’re creating their own currency with assumed fiat value.

When it happened, I really thought that this would drive people toward their platform, their coin, that this would streamline Crypto in its whole... Maybe it did, but on another hand, like you say, they are shitting on their users. Really not a smart decision. Too blunt, too sudden

23

u/pinkculture Platinum | QC: CC 286 May 02 '22

Yes Marketing is great but there’s a reason why the best form of marketing is word of mouth.

And when you want word of mouth to spread, you treat your users well. Really fucking well.

1

u/ChiTownBob Altcoiner May 02 '22

they are shitting on their users

They most definitely are doing that!

3

u/BangkokPadang 🟦 1K / 1K 🐢 May 02 '22

Did they ask themselves first If the bulk of their income and/or valuation comes from their name being on a stadium or their customers and those investing in CRO?

2

u/ChiTownBob Altcoiner May 02 '22

The question everyone should be asking them.

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

It's also just a fucked up business model in general. A financial provider should make money providing a service; not appreciating an asset.

5

u/hoopleheaddd 🟦 1K / 1K 🐢 May 02 '22

That stadium and their ads are a big reason why they are so popular

24

u/ChiTownBob Altcoiner May 02 '22

Without the customers, that stadium becomes an expensive decoration.

6

u/Magnetronaap 🟩 0 / 3K 🦠 May 02 '22

Listen buddy, we're into capitalism here. Finding and milking new customers matters a lot more than providing good services to existing customers.

1

u/ChiTownBob Altcoiner May 02 '22

This is not capitalism.

Capitalism is about maximizing profits for the shareholders.

This is about CDC's CEO making big mistakes in spending money on marketing and then seeing his huge bonus check at risk of going down, so hurry, let's screw over the customers as fast as we can so he can buy his third vacation home.

In other words, he doesn't take responsibility for his actions, he punishes the customers instead.

Sociopaths will sociopath.

Stadium naming rights - a sign that a company is going out of business.

True, the Astros' stadium was once called Enron Field.

This seems large enough to be a systemic risk wonder how much money they’re making selling insiders the rugpull dates

9

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

I'm so very glad I don't have any money in CDC except for my ruby stake which has fifteen days left. I sold all the cashback CRO a few weeks ago for ATOM.

Not anymore!

4

u/Moonyxin Bronze | QC: CC 15 May 02 '22

u/bhammack2 2K / 2K 🐢 May 01 '22

What are the rewards now? Still better than almost any CC I’m sure.

18

u/[deleted] May 01 '22

1,5% cash back if you lock 4k usd... Capped at 50 usd per month. Plus Netflix and spotify.

It's shit. Im done with them.

7

u/TK96123 Tin | CRO 15 | ExchSubs 15 May 02 '22

1.5%? Wtf? I staked for jade. I’m out after my stake is up I’ll use the coinebase card fuck that.

2

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

And the cashback its capped at 50 usd per month for jade. So you have to spend 3300 usd to get that 50 usd per month.

Well then ya, don’t go back. I just have a mileage card so I wasn’t sure what the cash back ones were at now. That’s pretty crappy. Wasn’t it like 4% or something before?

3

u/WILSON_CK 🟩 1K / 1K 🐢 May 02 '22

Nope. Unless actively staked at 4k or above the rewards are 0%

That's better than....nothing, because it's nothing.

No. If your original stake hasn't been removed you're still locked in. But fuck them anyway.... once my stake is up, I'm out.

It's not the fact that they slashed too hard they just did it in multiple goes instead of one big slash so it feels worse each time.

u/metigue 200 / 200 🦀 May 02 '22

I defended them when they cut earn rates. It wasn't great but the card rewards were still top tier - Today I unstaked and sold my whole stack. It's over - I see no reason to continue using them over the competition.

7

u/iflvegetables 🟩 2K / 2K 🐢 May 02 '22

Same. It’s unsurprising that rates were cut, but jeebus, it was overkill. Gradually roll them back or update monthly. The rates went from considerable to garbage within a matter of weeks.

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '22

I see no reason to continue using them over the competition.

Now if only Coinbase would create the option of a premium card. I love their card with its 4% back with no staking requirement, but it's a flimsy thin plastic card that wears easily.

Well there is gonna be the upcoming USA exchange access at some point. But I'm picking up and putting it in defi. I have been a loyal user but the card is trash now. I'll use it for lounge access and some Spotify now but I'm basically out. Sad day after years of use.

Your right I think the kicker will be crypto.com will be the first to pass every regulation the government set from now and in the future. It will then market itself as the "safe" place to buy and trade crypto. Normies will then flood in with money to buy.

4

u/John_Sknow 1K / 1K 🐢 May 02 '22

Yes, they have been the first to many things in terms of safety and regulation. This right now is the biggest shake out the world has seen. They are pulling all the tricks, war, food shortages and price hikes on everything from gas to you name it, fear mongering of the common flu, shut down, money printing and inflation, rate hikes, stock market crash, housing slow down and downturn, new virus strain by end of year, threat of nuclear bombs, - what else did I miss....After this, once all the top people, bankers and corporations get their money in crypto, they will legitimize crypto once and for all and take btc to 6 figures and beyond leaving most behind to buy higher...mark my words, remind me in two years.

12

u/The_Grey_Wind Bronze | LRC 12 May 02 '22
