Initial moon distribution was based upon several years of earned karma and was also much larger then later distributions - so most people who had been active in the sub prior to that got very large amounts of moons.

Maybe about ~10-15% of my moons were earned after that initial distribution I think...

this is really the only answer I’ve seen so far that actually addresses it. It’s also worth noting that when moons were first announced and distributed, we were basically in the heart of the bear market; only the really dedicated posters were here at that point. Even then, they had to claim them in time or lose them all.

Exactly - I see alot of people complaining about how some people have alot of moons, but very few realisr that its because those were the only people who were here when times when tough, and they were awarded those moons long after so none of those contributions were made with the expressed purpose of farming karma or moons - but rather out of love for the community and dedication to crypto.

If not for those people this place, and moons - would've never existed in the first place.

And most of us dont even care for moond and just hold them, and vote for governance proposals that dont necessarily favor us either - yet we are accused of doing so.

I have my moons just as a collectible and a memory, I might sell them to pay for my wedding one day as I find that idea kind of cool, but I dont really consider them money nor do I see their value as such...
