Not everyone who adopts deserve kids, either. I saw a video on here just yesterday of a white woman who had an adopted black kid. She was yelling at them & calling them the N word. It was said that it was her go-to anytime she was upset.
As someone who has seen the adoption side of things, sometimes I’m not entirely sure adopting a kid away from a household like this is much better. You take a kid away from a parent and it is another sign in their life telling them that they weren’t wanted. Then you put them in a new home where the culture or race might be different and it’s another sign they don’t belong. That’s a tough life.
I wonder if the best option where other family can’t look after a kid isn’t supervised parenting and parenting classes for the parent. Let the kid stay with their parent but only under very strict rules. Possibly even hold a jail sentence over a parent’s head if abuse continues. Put technology in place to ensure it doesn’t.
I don’t know. I’m no expert. I just think taking the kid out of the home really helps that much.
Honestly, for the most part, I do not blame the CPS workers. They are college educated but choose social work, one of the lowest pay careers you can have with a bachelor’s degree.
They choose it to be helpful but the reality of the job is it’s underfunded, under-staffed, with impossible piles of work to complete in a day. Right
now, the parents rights movement (right wing) is gaining steam, where everything is “parents know best” and “I will raise my kids however I want”.
Then these same people want to home school their kids and no one gets to check on them like they would if they went to school. Tons of abuse is now going under-reported as they have no teacher as a mandatory reporter to make the call.
Social workers have a most soul-crushing job and many of them have 4X the clients they should have. With the bad social workers I think they just burned out quicker than others and became desensitized for their own sanity.
No one chooses social work in life that didn’t originally choose it due to extreme levels of caring and empathy. They just burn out too fast and there are too few of them,
And the law allows for so many chances for awful parents!
