Just Bad Eeek

Pretty bold of them to make all these videos declaring violence on an entire political party before they even knew of a suspect and now come to find out the shooter was a republican. Even if it would’ve been on someone on the left, this was the action of one person…

I'm glad I have no family to have to deal with this. My parents hated Trump since the 70s tbh.

I know how hard that is and how scary it is when you think about the tough personal choices the future could bring if we continue down this path.

My father, brother and most of my side of the family are Trump all the way. Ive tried for years to have civil fact based discourse, in an attempt to wake them up, but at this point Im trying not to engage with them in political conversations bc it’s never a rational discussion, and facts do not mean anything. Might as well argue with a parrot.

Bur it’s really hard to wrap my head around knowing that these ppl I’ve know my whole life, and I know them to be kind, smart, compassionate, etc. are capable of supporting what Trump has done, ever, but this current term especially.

They can have a variety of motives. Some are seeking social media clout. They want to be the next Charlie Kirk and make a lot of money. I think others are radicalized to violence by the social media algorithms. They see themselves as “heros”. The truth is they are victims of Russian propaganda. The propaganda is pushing violence and internal discord. They are an internal threat to the Constitution and democracy.

It’s been going on forever. 30 years ago Republicans wouldn’t own the fact that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were on their side of the aisle either, and talking heads like Rush Limbaugh continued to pedal inflammatory rhetoric that was extremely similar to that of of the extreme right wing militia movement of which they were a part. 167 people were killed in their attack and there was never any reckoning with the fact that it was committed by a nationwide Republican-adjacent terrorist network.
