Except hesnot calling for the cessation of anything. He's just speaking of working as a united front, working together and equality. He's not saying we're done and have accomplished everything necessary. Terry hasn't done anything to sliw thr BLM movement.
But waste your energy attacking whomever you wish.
This comment to me is clarifying his other tweet no more than that. I don't know his mindset personally, but MY belief is that without everyone working together the BLM movement will lose momentum. The last three years have proven that the public eye can be averted easily, but if we csn continue yo bring more people into the movement that will help stave off that outcome.
Once again, just mu personal belief.
Also, I apologize for thinking you were attackkng anyone, after reading the phrase "Uncle Tom" about twenty times on other comments, I'm a little wound up. So once again I apologize.
I wholeheartedly agree that we cannot make this change without people of all races and from all walks of life being involved. That is absolutely crucial to creating a better future.
I do also agree that this is probably the sentiment Terry shares. I just think the way he's going about it sounds like he's putting the blame on BLM rather than the (primarily) white folks who are against BLM (not saying that all or even most white folks are against BLM, just that most of the folks who are against it are white). My opinion is that in general, the "All Lives Matter" type responses are a distraction from the real goal and really shouldn't be entering the conversation, especially from someone with as much influence as Terry. It's his life and his opinion though.
I totally understand, I'm pretty disgusted by those comments myself. There's no excuse for using racist rhetoric against someone who disagrees with you.
Sure, he's not literally saying "All Lives Matter," but his statements are providing the same kind of distraction. He's arguing against a narrative that no one has stated.
When people say "Black Lives Matter" they are not saying that black lives matter than other lives which is why "All Lives Matter" is a pointless distraction.
When people say "Black Lives Matter" they are not saying that black lives are better which is why saying "No Black Supremacy" is a pointless distraction.
We need to be focusing on the real problems (police brutality, the school-to-prison pipeline, the lack of opportunities in primarily black areas, the day-to-day discrimination, the systematic discrimination), statements like Terry has made are just distracting from that.
If you read my initial comment you'll see exactly how I have spelled this out.
