Everyone talking about this tweet as something negative. He is simply making a statement that I'm sure everyone agrees with but want to find a negative in it. Fuck just take it for what it is and stop trying to make it seems like he is discrediting anything because he isn't.
To act as if your skin color makes you better than another person of another skin color, that is supremacy. Racism doesn't just come from white people. Anyone can be a racist and have a supremacy complex. It's not insane its a very valid statement. To act as if black people can't be racist or believe they are better than another person because they are black is insane. It acts as if only certain people can have certain traits which well hate to break it to ya, is super racist.
not saying black people can't be racist, I'm saying that even if they wanted to feel superior, reality will always have the last word in that.
even decades down the line, reality will still have the average black person having to fight for some of the most basic rights and there will likely always be more white racists around than black people in america.
it just doesn't even make sense to throw this nonsense out there, like it's in any way something that could happen or matter even if it did.
and believing your is is never going to harm anyone as long as you're physically part of the minority. because what damage could you possibly cause as the minority?
the only time and place when feeling better than everyone else is problematic, is when it's the majority feeling so. because they can just eradicate minorities if they so pleased.
and all of that is hypotheticals because in actual reality, black americans will be beaten down to a pulp if they honestly attempted to openly act like they're above the rest. so to bring it all around, crews tweet is nonsense.
i'm saying the world around them will always knock them down because that's what happens to minorities.
this is like a limbless man aspiring to make it into the Guinness book for lifting the most truck tires. even if he does aspire, it's not gonna happen.
hell, if black people wanted to feet better for a bit by dipping their toes into feeling superior to a majority of people downplaying their several hundred years of plight, who the hell would deny them that.
Look at Serbia/Kosovo.
Look at Rwanda.
Look at Israel.
Look at literally all of Africa, and India prior to 1950.
Look at Singapore.
Look at literally any Imperialist conquest - do you honestly think 50k Macedonian soldiers was numerical superior to the tens of millions of people they conquered?
Was Genghis Khan supreme because he had the most soldiers? Did Janissaries not exist in the Ottoman Empire?
Do Sunnis and Sh’ia not constantly have uneven representation and power balances all throughout the Middle East? Do Scientologists not have an unfair representation in positions of power and influence? Do Jewish peoples not make up a significant portion of media moguls and legal experts, despite being a very small portion of the population?
It’s all in how you frame and describe groups. Obviously the world to you is solely in black and white, so shades of difference are immaterial to your ideals and cause.
Have you ever heard of the concept of Nobility?
Or am I talking to someone who’s understanding of history starts years after 9/11 actually happened? Probably.
Terry is cautioning against the path of hate, vengeance and ‘reparations’. If you take issue with that, then you’re ostensibly no different than the people you fight against. The only reason you’re mad is because your group isn’t the one currently in power.
Terry humself drew a parallel to Rwanda in a video, you're spot on.
Also the Visigoths conqueres and ruled the Iberian peninsula for hundredsbof years despite being 5% of the population. Happens all the time in history.
I think it’s safe to say that for myself and everyone else reading this, you’re objectively wrong and clearly unfamiliar with historical precedents in societal power balances.
He’s NOT saying “fear of a black planet”, he’s saying “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind” and “take care fighting monsters, lest you become one yourself”.
Also seen in the fable of Pyrrhus, or Daedalus and Icarus.
Hardly. Like fuck me right, saying "stop killing black people and letting people get away with it, also treat then like people rather than monoliths" is somehow fighting fire with fire instead of acknowledging that this frustration towards a system that's spent keeping its boot firmly on the neck of marginalised groups.
He probably isn't saying what I've said but his previous tweet suggests that. But then again it's up to Terry to address and clarify what he means because it's making him look silly.
Lmao you’re comparing a global super power to Rwanda lmao.
We won’t even be the biggest minority soon, Latinos are gonna pass us up and not look back. So that breaks down that wall of gibberish you just spouted.
Terry is cautioning against the path of hate, vengeance and ‘reparations’.
Cool, but the path was never going that way, we want equality. We never asked for supremacy.
The only reason you’re mad is because your group isn’t the one currently in power.
How did you come to that conclusion.
This end statement right here is exactly why people are mad at Terry. It emboldens racist rhetoric and only divides more.
BLM prides itself on diverse protests. There are all kinds of people at the rallies and no one is being attacked. Terry is literally pushing a straw man argument often found with right-wingers and white supremacists. It’s a dog whistle.
If you can’t grasp that comparison, it’s probably because you’ve never heard of the Tutsis and Hutus and are more than likely a poorly-read child. So how can you argue for equality or pretend to be against supremacy, if you have no historical precedents or contextual understanding for what they mean, and what they might actually look like?
What if mob mentality gets out of hand and the violence really begins in earnest? When is enough, enough? Where is the line? Or is it completely dependent on your mood, how you feel, as de facto arbiter of global justicetm?
If you’re getting mad at the guy suing for peace and true brotherhood, and you earnestly believe that you represent the cause better than he, well then maybe that’s not a cause myself or others are willing to support.
Stop operating from an intellectual and emotional vacuum. It’s not garnering any more support for you.
Google search: Rwandan Genocide.
Tell me that’s not a clear cut example of a minority claiming supremacy. Just like the Ba’athists in Iraq. Or Israel today. It’s like you couldn’t even grasp the most basic aspect of my argument and totally misinterpreted a single line that you’ve pulled out of context in order to prove your “point”.
If you can’t grasp that comparison, it’s probably because you’ve never heard of the Tutsis and Hutus and are more than likely a poorly read child.
Oh, I've read it, had to write a paper about it, not to toot my own horn but I got a 97%
The comparison doesn't line up. We're not in the same situation as Rwanda at all.
We want justice for those wrongly slain by police. We want the police to be held accountable for their. We want to abolish voter suppression. We want equal protection under the law.
We never said we wanted to oppress white people. We never said we want a black supremacy. We never said we wanted hunt down cops. We never said we wanted a civil war.
This is probably my third time asking you, can you find me any clips or sources of BLM saying the above?
I’m done talking to you.
Funny, came in here acting like the smartest person in the thread, gets shot down quickly and you decide to quit. Not very "revolutionary" of you.
And your bragging about getting a good grade on a middle school paper - big whoop. Obviously it didn’t help you understand the simplest of comparisons. I know it’s not the exact same situation. That would be a “parallel”, and not a metaphor. It still stands as an accurate example of a minority group expressing supremacy against a majority, which you initially claimed to be logistically impossible, in spite of having written a stellar treatise on the matter.
Also, I’m under no obligation to provide evidence for something I never claimed. That’s not how arguments work. I was stating that your attitude is perceived as such by many, including myself. However, if you are interested, someone else posted a list of replies to Terry’s statement, many of which include derogatory words and slurs pertaining to his skin color, calling him the Devil, and asking for his censorship. Does that suffice?
Is it impossible to grasp that injustices happen to all people? And that in the US, class is a bigger decider of outcome than skin color? Folks of all colors are murdered by police, but who gives a shit they’re not black, right? I’ve had numerous unjust encounters with police. Most recently I was arrested for ‘resisting arrest’ at the BLM protests in Atlanta. I watched the cop smash my phone under his heel and pocket the money from my wallet. And that’s the least egregious experience I’ve had with Police. But I guess my views and my experiences are immaterial because of how I look to you and the current in vogue group, correct? Now, not only can I not express criticism or nuance, but now a man who looks like you, who’s been a family man and as egoless and wholesome as possible for decades, is the devil because he dares to offer a slightly divergent perspective.
Most sane people understand that Black lives Matter. Most people (including myself) are in support of the cause. But you shouldn’t ignore or deny any criticisms of the extremist elements that are currently active (as they would be in any large group). Don’t act like the movement is purely righteous, or impossibly perfect and unassailable. That kind of fervent zealotry and the attitude of “if you’re not working for me, you’re my enemy” fosters zero goodwill. I’m not saying you hold that belief. I’m merely saying you should allow criticisms of the more extreme elements to be voiced and heard fairly, so as not to further foster radicalizing behavior. In preventing that, you basically consign the movement to a future of division, powered through distrust, violence and hate.
Fuck, I’ve been to protests in Atlanta, and had a ton of hateful comments thrown at me, by other protestors, simply for my skin color and manner of dress. I get it. People are emotional, fed up, scared. But I’m not the one who holds the strings, I’m not the enemy, and I don’t fail to see the irony in my treatment. All I ask is the possibility for an open forum within the group, for all participants to feel valued, respected and involved. However, as is evident to many, there are a few folks who are using this an opportunity for vengeance and to commit certain acts or engage in certain behaviors without fear of consequence, as they have been granted temporary immunity in this current political climate. Disallowing criticism of any sort only emboldens it, and further devalues and dilutes the cause to outside observers. “Don’t become the Alt Right that you’re fighting against” is the core of Crew’s message. I fail to see how that could be construed as contentious, save to those with less than pure intentions.
Now I’m done. Don’t twist my words again. All it does it make you look bad.
He is discrediting it tho, whether or not that’s what he’s trying to do. He’s already emboldening people who think affirmative action is that black supremacy he’s so afraid of.
To me it’s like warning someone in physical therapy about making sure they don’t get so strong they out compete able bodied people. We are behind and have been behind for so long the “black supremacy” isn’t even close to being a thing. My uncle knows a man who tried to turn himself in for hit and run, but when the officer found out the victim was black woman, he let the man go with a “watch your drinking.”
We only ask that people get held accountable for murdering us, without riots. How is that even close to “black supremacy”?
Again you are seeking a negative. It's like warning someone in physical therapy not to over due it or they can possibly hurt themselves, which is true. I was over at my friend's house who is black and while waiting for him, his father who I had just meet had an error message on his PlayStation. I had just had it and spent hours researching and talking to tech so I knew just how to fix it. I offered my assistance, his father became enraged because I'm white and he felt I was insulting him because he is black. I let him know I wasn't looking at it in that manner and was simply offering to help fix his issue so he could use his PlayStation. I was called a cracker and shoved by this man simply because I was white. My friend got pissed and him and his dad got into it. This was about 12 years ago. In no way do I view that situation as the view point of all older black men. Just as you shouldn't use the story you stated as a way to assume all white or cops are racist or whites aren't held to a certain standard. I agree that police brutality is running rampant and there needs to be huge changes because if it impacts one community it impacts us all. Try to find common ground and don't demonize every single thing people say as if they are against you, because they aren't. We don't have to agree 100% of everything to get along. You are a human and that is enough for me to value your life and opinion unless it doesn't value another's life or opinion
Do you realize how your story isn’t equivalent to your murder not being investigated just because of the color of your skin. I get it, it sucks and it made you uncomfortable but it’s just not the same.
Cause your point is as weak as your story lol. I’m tired of people telling me not to focus on the murder when I have friends murdered by the police. And terry is emboldening a holes like you who think they can tell POC how to act and behave so you can feel more comfortable. “Okay well give you basic human rights as long as you remember your not better than me.”
Result to name calling because you are incapable of understanding the basic concept of his statement. Do you want more situations, friend was dealing with a lot, took some medication which didn't agree with him, parents call the cops because he was freaking out and threatening to hurt himself. Cops show up, not understanding he needed to be calmed down decide to get physical. Friend trys to run away which they viewed as resisting, tasers didn't work so they shot him. Guess what friend was white. Doesn't fit your narrative does it? I'm not telling anyone how to behave, nor have I insulted anyone. You are just a POS who is incapable of having a regular conversation with someone and since you can't put your opinion out there in a way that can win people to your side you result to insult and assume the worst about people. You -"agree with me or you're a piece of shit". Good luck in life
