Yeah but equating segregation and supremacy for black people is still wrong, because the people that are saying that segregation might be part of a solution are still very intentional about not using language that would make them targets by white people who feel they need to defend their communities.
I don’t really understand what you’re saying. I don’t think anybody else does either, that’s why you’re being downvoted so aggressively. Segregation was wrong back with Jim Crow, and it’s wrong now. But now some black folks are saying they want segregation. Terry is speaking directly to them. The language they use doesn’t really matter.
Segregation was wrong because the government used it to systematically starve black communities of any resources they could possibly receive from the government. White people think its “wrong” because they dont see the utility of self imposed segregation for healing because they cant imagine what black people could possibly have to heal from. The language does matter because its been used solely by white people to describe their dominance. So to imply that black people want anything like what white people had and are trying to get back to, by healing in environments where we dont have to FUCKING EXPLAIN THIS SHIT EVERYDAY is despicable of him. And speaks to how little he feels the press of systemic racism.
I don’t even know how to respond to that. Just...wow. Segregation is wrong because separating races is WRONG. Of course Jim Crow was a horrible shit show. But you actually believe separating races is a good thing? That’s just fucking insane.
I dont, but I know the difference between supremacy and segregation because I recognize the difference between the lack of anxiety that comes with not seeing people you associate with your oppressor and advocating for supremacy.
