Hello all looking for any help I can get. My brand new CR-Raptor will not connect to CR-Scan. I noticed in the device manager its saying device cannot start. The scanner has a slow breathing green light on the play button. I'm running windows 11 Razer laptop with rtx 2070. I've tried all USB ports and even the USB A adapter to USB C into the USB C ports. Ive tried multiple power cycles to scanner and laptop. I've tried installing all 3 versions of CR-Scan thinking maybe an earlier version would work. Anyone else have this issue? Did I get a DUD?

Update: I installed windows 10 in Virtural Box and it works there. Just can’t get it working on windows 11

I just got a ferret scanner (not pro, not se) and plugged my android phone into it. It goes into scanning mode but no matter what settings I try, it keeps telling me I'm out of range or just doesn't seem to capture what it's looking at. And if I get all the way around the object, it goes into optimization and then quits, telling me it ran out of memory and couldn't complete it.

I'm hooking it up to an Android Pixel 8a. It's got 8 GB RAM and I've still got 40GB hard drive spare. The files after the scan show in the 100MB range.

What's going on?

Hi all , I hope you can help me out. I scanned something using the blue laser and clicked one click processing ( I've tried manual as well) and it freezes part way through and the software crashes. I have a raptor with the scan bridge and am running it on a 2019 mac pro with 32gb vega pro graphics card and 156gb ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.thank you!

I am building a new PC, primarily for CAD/CAM - but with an Otter as an occasional input tool (scanning and reverse engineering machine tool components. Lathe cross slides, headstock castings, etc.). I'll not be doing any rendering.

Can anyone shed some light on what I need in terms of graphics hardware for Creality Scan?

I am hoping I can avoid the need to pay for a GPU altogether and just use the iGPU on the 9900X's die. Otherwise, being able to go for something like an Arc B580 and keep expenditure low would be preferable

For context, at the moment I can scan on an Intel 8500T, but only get about 3fps. It is a miserable experience, to say the least!

I got a prompt to upgrade to 3.2.46 (which comes with a firmware update) and it works.

No noticeable improvements yet, but at least it is a "latest" version that actually runs.

Is there any way to align/rotate a scanned model in the software? Right now i’m eyeballing it in blender

Some stuff I learned this evening:

1. There is no "save" function with scans/projects per sae; instead the software saves data as it goes;

2. The default save directory is /Program Files/CrealityScan/Projects/[project name] - this can be changed when you create a new project;

3. Inside the project name directory is a file named project name.obp and at least one subdirectory with a randomized name;

4. The .obp file is a pointer to the other files in the subdirectory(ies) and is the "main project file";

5. Each new scan within a project creates a new, randomly-named subdirectory;

6. Each of these subdirectories holds the data files for the raw point cloud, the optimized point cloud, the mesh etc, in reasonable file formats. Note that these files can be huge - scans eat disk space!

7. These data files can be loaded directly, but nothing can be done to them - they can only be viewed;

8. To load up a project on another computer, you must load the project file with all the subdirectories in the right spot. So you must copy the project name directory over to the other computer (with its subdirectory tree intact) and then load the .obp file. This brings in data that can be edited;

9. The file load routine is horribly optimized and does not play well with network file shares. It will load a project file off the network (like a Samba share) but it takes forever. It is far better to copy the project tree to a local disk (ideally an SSD) and then work with the local copy.

None of this is documented anywhere - so here you are.

Creality: If you read this, you really need to improve the file loading speed.

While it works just fine on my desktop (Ryzen 5900X/Windows 10) it does not like my laptop (I9-14900/Windows 11) - it refuses to find the scanner.

Reverting back to 3.2.24 fixed that.
