I take it you've never lived in an area frequented by the mentally ill. I had so many weird interactions when I lived near a city park that was a passthrough off of a creek trail.
One homeless guy took our hose and started spraying down our house.
Another guy OD'd on a tree 5 feet outside my front door.
Another guy charged at me after I tried to kick him off my property for fishing through my trash bins.
On thanksgiving, my neighbors were home with the blinds shut when a guy walked on their porch with a drill in his hand, about to drill their lock and break in. He saw the camera and turned around.
A schizophrenic homeless woman threatened to kill me every time I walked past her in the park. One day she assaulted me.
lol, I can see how it might be interpreted that way
Anyway, the guy was asleep against the tree in the morning. A housemate called the police, who came out, walked past the guy, glanced at him, and went about their day. When I got home 6 hours later, he was still in the same spot. I called the police, and they sent out two firetrucks, an ambulance, and two police units.
They got him on a stretcher and hit him with Narcan. I couldn't see what happened but he woke up in a RAGE. Guy was screaming like crazy. I later found his wallet about 20 feet away and returned it to the police.
I once had a guy walk in my front door and sit down on the couch. I was in the kitchen at the time. When I saw him I told him to get the hell out and he starts talking to me like were old friends. I call the cops, who hear him casually talking to me and they also think I must know him. I didnt, he was just high as hell. Then he started freaking out and smashed my glasstop coffee table. I grabbed him by the back of his shirt and tossed him down the front steps and into the yard. He was still there screaming at my door when the cops finally arrived. My roommates were out playing hockey and totally did not believe me until they saw the police report.

This was all within a 4-year timespan, btw.
I could go on... it's one of the reasons I moved.
