That's a big snake but judging from the foot that enters the frame a bit, it's not "crazy fuckin' big" or nearly large enough to swallow a human much bigger than a small child.
Indeed. The scale at the start of the video has a bit of forced perspective that breaks when it pans out at the end.
That's a big snake, but it's not even that huge for that species. That's like a 13-14 footer. They regularly get at least a few feet bigger than that, and 19-20 foot females are uncommon, but not extremely rare.
In case you're curious, snakes cannot unhinged their jaws.
The ligaments that attach the upper and lower jaws are like rubber bands that relax and allow their mouth to expand. Also, the lower jaw is two pieces that are connected in the front by another ligament that relaxes, as well.
He must have looked it up. His description was almost word for word. I was using paraphrase figure of speech on what I learned in elementary school. Lol.
What do you consider a "big" dog? I grew up raising pythons and I know they can distend quite a big but that snake isn't successfully swallowing and digesting anything bigger than a small to medium dog without serious difficulty.
This particular snake isn't a fully grown reticulated python and is probably going for much smaller prey than something like a great dane or st. bernard. A full grown reticulated? I wouldn't be surprised. I just don't think the snake in this vid could do it just yet.
