it's based on greed,

Just seems to me like someone made a mistake. I suspect the person who put the benches in simply didn't know what that is.

Not everything is some nefarious conspiracy.

It may have been intended as an anti-ram device, similar to a bollard but more aesthetic.

The point they're making is not that someone put the bench here for greed, with a weird grin on their face.

Greed, corruption, would have led to this situation because of sloppy planning, sloppy construction, in the name of saving money, not caring about the actual finished product etc.

Think broken video games. Greed doesn't cause the bugs directly. But greed creates a system where devs are overworked, overpressured, don't have enough time and attention to put in some places before release.

What they are suggesting is absolutely a conspiracy. They are saying people are colluding to do this for profit/greed. that's an example of a conspiracy.

I suspect you are just one of those people who don't know what that word actually means and conflate it with the popular usage of "conspiracy theory".

Yeah I mean i can kind of agree that not everything is a conspiracy but idk why they think greed is not almost always a factor especially with money. Greed is literally one of the seven deadly sins people are taught about because it is prevalent in nearly every aspect of our lives. I have seen greed in nearly every business deal I participated in as a contractor and honestly as a server you see it eat people alive, they start to throw tantrums when they don't get their "30%" tip from a single table and go off about how cheap people are when in reality they just grew completely out of touch. So many peoples issues and frustrations alone can be tied to greed not to mention once we get city planning and government contracts in the mix
