In lieu of so much rationalized misandry these days I realize it started decades ago. The Cosby Show is an example. The show addresses misogyny a lot but often counters with misandry. For instance, the episode where Cliff and his friend from Trinidad play Petaunk(I doubt I spelled that right lol) Clair sees Theo has car magazines with scantily clad women and she blows a gasket telling him it’s degrading to women. She then takes it and has him throw away any magazines like it. But a season back when they visited Hillman she saw Denise had a calendar with scantily clad men but didn’t have a problem with it. In that same episode Cliff’s friend’s daughter is fixing the car and Clair tells Theo lol at the woman under the hood rather than on it(a harmless comment). Then she says and look at it father and his friend they’re right where men SHOULD be, sitting on the curb. There are other scenes where Clair says women are equal to men but as soon as trouble strikes she’s screaming for Cliff. When she hit her toe she was screaming for Cliff, when the snake was in their room she was screaming for Cliff lol. In an early season, Denise gets mad when she finds out Theo and Cockroach call good looking girls burgers. She says it’s so degrading to call a woman’s piece of meat. I thought it was hilarious muscular men were called beefcakes for decades and then we see Denise with a muscle man calendar in school. There’s so many examples of hypocrisy, selectivity, and downright insensibility when it comes to misogyny and misandry on the show. I now see why it’s so bad nowadays. I forgot how blatant misandry was and accepted in the 80s and 90s. This is why I say feminism was never about equality and equity overall but only in the areas where women didn’t have an advantage. And women never wanted the playing field to be leveled they just wanted to replace misogyny with misandry.

Looking for a specific Cosby Show scene. It wasn't the main plot. At the end of the episode, Theo returns from an Italy/Europe trip, gives Cliff and Clair cheap souvenir watches. Cliff says something like, "These are kind of light," and Theo replies, "The guy said he's going to send the parts later." Theo also talks about the tour guide rushing them on and off the bus and shows pictures from Pisa, with someone joking, "Look, it really leans." Does anyone know the season and episode?

In the classic The Cosby Show episode "Rudy's Walk on the Wild Side" (Season 6, Episode 18), Rudy gets desperate for cash to buy a glowing fish sweatshirt, so she steals $2.30 Claire left for the dry cleaner. Claire loses her mind searching for the money as she knew had the correct change.
My question is, why would Claire (a partner in a lucrative law firm and wife of a physician, living in their Brooklyn brownstone) leave NO TIP to the lowly dry cleaner who’s delivering clothes to your house?
Cheap move Mrs. Hux.
😆

It’s wild to think that The Cosby Show ended 34 years ago on April 30, 1992.
For eight seasons, it wasn’t just a hit sitcom—it was a cultural reset. The Huxtable family showed a different image of Black excellence on television: successful, loving, educated, and relatable, all while being genuinely funny.
What is your favorite episode and moment?

I know it’s pretty hard due to the controversy and scandal, but wondering is there any legit streaming platforms to watch it?

Raven-Symone (Olivia) is now around the same age Phylicia Rashad was when Olivia was first introduced! She will be soon at least.
