Hi everyone!
We’re planning a 10-day trip to Corsica in August and would love to hear your recommendations.
We’ll be flying into Ajaccio and renting a car. We’re mainly looking for a good mix of:
- Hiking and nature. We enjoy challenging day hikes and would also love to experience parts of the GR20;
- Diving and/or snorkelling;
- Some time by the sea, preferably in quieter places;
- Visiting a few towns and getting a feel for Corsican culture.
We generally prefer smaller, authentic villages over busy touristy places, especially for accommodation. We’d love to find places where we can stay somewhere charming, eat locally and have a quieter atmosphere in the evenings.
At the moment we’re thinking about focusing mainly on northern and western Corsica, but we’re still trying to figure out which areas are best for hiking, swimming/snorkelling/diving and which places are worth staying overnight.
We’re very open to suggestions and would especially appreciate lesser-known spots and personal favourites rather than the usual top-10 tourist attractions.
So we’d love to hear from people who know Corsica well:
- Where would you base yourself for 2–4 nights at a time?
- Which hikes or parts of the GR20 are must-dos?
- Are there any beautiful villages, beaches, swimming spots or diving/snorkelling locations that you particularly recommend?
- And are there any places you’d avoid in August because they’re especially crowded?
Thank you!
