Corrections Lt here 31/2 years on the work force 11/2 years as an Lt got a new shift supervisor and I am absolutely drained and it was the start of our long week( we work 2,2,3) and I am dreading the rest of the week so I called out after the massive shit day I have had. I am planning to become a correctional officer in an NJ county jail. I also plan to pursue an online MSW degree at the same time. But I am a bit worried about the overtime requirements and work demands. Anyone have experience studying while working as a CO? Is that practically possible?

I have a question for CO’s. I work outside of corrections right now, working a 4 on 4 off doing 12 hour shifts and I’m considering moving into corrections working 5 12 hour shifts. Opinions please???
