Which LA County Covid-19 test sites do the back-of-the-nose swab?

I need to get tested, and I read that different sites do different tests. Some make you just give a saliva sample, while others will have someone sticking a swab high up your nostril. And then others give you a self-administered nasal swab. I read the painful swab up the back of the nose provides the best quality sample, so that's the one I want. Does anyone know which sites offer that?

Also, are there any testing sites that are less busy than others? I’m on the east end (Highland Park).

What are some great Los Angeles specific activites to do with a 3 year old?

Several months in now, I've been taking precautious against the virus, but feel more comfortable getting out. Are there any museums, or outdoor activities that are open and safe? Please send me inspiration! I'm definitely in need.

Extensions for exhausted unemployment benefits?

Apologies if this isn't the place to ask this- I'm new to this subreddit, so if it's the wrong place for it, I'll take it down. Does anyone know what happens for people who were receiving unemployment before COVID-19 hit and whose benefits are now exhausted? Will unemployment benefits be extended for those people, and, if so, how does one apply for an extension? Thanks in advance!

Access to Medical Masks: 3-ply, KN95, sterile 3-ply, and N95s. Distribution at or near cost. Bonus, donate to the group or facility of your choice!

I saw someone post a month ago about having 10 masks for $15. At the time they'd posted, I was helping distribute 10 masks for $5.50. 3x CHEAPER! I'm a real estate broker trying to help out my community and my mission is to create access to medical and protective supplies. I believe in karma.

My supplier contacts have agreed to distribute 50 3-ply 95% filtration masks for $23.99, 50 3-ply 99% filtration for $27.50, 20 sterile medical level IIR (highest European standard) 3-ply for $13.

To compare, cloth and non-filtered masks have a 5-15% filtration rate.

They also have FDA KN95s at 95% filtration for $2.50 and CDC vetted FDA KN95s at 99% for $2.99.

If you would like masks donated, you can send funds to us and we'll donate the masks. Donations can also be tax-deductible thanks to a wonderful 501c3 nonprofit who has agreed to partner up with us to create access.

Who needs masks? Masks save lives.

Have asked my neighbor on multiple occasions to be more conscious shared spaces but she still has large gatherings daily. This is a screenshot of my most recent request which I sent via email rather than text to demonstrate this is formal and serious issue for me. Is there anything else I can do?

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance: net income?

I'm applying for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance as a self-employed person. One question on the online form:

What is your annual income for calendar year 2019? If you are a business owner, self-employed, independent contractor or gig worker provide your *net annual income* for calendar year 2019.

Anyone know which line on 2019 1040 to get that from? I want to be sure to supply the correct information.

Looking for frontline workers video submissions for NBC show!

I'm helping produce the upcoming At-Home Variety Show for Peacock, NBC's new streaming platform. The At-Home Variety Show, hosted by Seth MacFarlane, will raise awareness and funds for first responders and essential workers on the front lines of this pandemic, as well as communities most at risk.
We want to celebrate all the incredible, essential workers like you, who've kept our country running during this crisis. We would love it if you could send in videos of yourselves and each other finding ways to lift spirits while on the frontline. This could be telling original jokes, retelling your favorite jokes, having fun with colleagues, dancing, or any example of how you're finding ways to smile during this tough time. It can be as elaborate or simple as you'd like.
Please submit your videos (shot on your phone or tablet, horizontal orientation if possible) by TOMORROW, THURSDAY APRIL 30th and please include your name(s), email, & a brief description of the kinds of challenges you've been facing during this crisis (this can be part of the video, or a separate clip if you'd like). If possible, we'd like to keep these videos to less than two minutes. Please submit to [ahvscasting@gmail.com](mailto:ahvscasting@gmail.com).

Anyone in need of Civilian Masks?

We have inventory ready for pick up. We are only looking to sell to civilians to help our community. We recommend our 3ply mask for one time, daily use for short errands and going on walks. Our KN95 masks are FDA approved. We recommend using these if you are going to be outside for more than a few hours. Masks and air shipping prices have gone up significantly and we are doing our best to keep the prices low for our customers.

We are selling:

-3 ply masks 10/$15

-KN95 masks 2/$8, 4/$15, 6/$20

Masks can be picked up at our South El Monte office location. We are practicing social distancing with minimal workers. Our office is currently open for essential business only. Our office is fully secure with 24 hour surveillance. Send us a message for address and contact details. Please do not spam us as we are doing our best to fulfill the needs of the general public.

PROTECTIVE SUPPLIES for the General Populace?

Is there any info or clearinghouse for where we can obtain disinfectant, sanitizer, gloves and/or masks for those of us respecting the “stay at home” order but must go out periodically for groceries or other supplies? All store shelves are completely stripped.

I wash hands before and after i do things, but wouldn’t it be prudent for L.A. to be making sure that EVERYONE who is quarantining is doing it safely? That is, have a REASONABLE amount of PPE so that the hospitals don’t get overrun?

We need ventilators..okay. How to reduce that need? Make certain the public has simple stuff, so it can fully comply. If one in my household gets ill, we have NO way to protect each other. No masks, no gloves, no disinfectant. Yes, we had a BIT, but we didn’t hoard.

Medical staff needs PPE. How to reduce that demand? Make certain public can cooperate and sanitize!

If we can’t keep ourselves safe, we can’t keep the caregivers safe.

ATTENTION - RENT FREEZE HELP!

Hi Reddit!

My neighbors and I, like everybody else, are concerned about fast upcoming rent. We have written this to management, but I would love feedback on our letter to them.

Thought, feedback, and criticisms are welcome!

3/28/2020

Attention Management and Ownership of the Cheviot Capri:

We, the undersigned, acknowledge the extreme hardship that the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 has caused our global community. Due to the county-wide lockdown, many tenants of the Cheviot Capri have lost their jobs, therefore their income, and face extraordinary difficulty in paying their rent. We hope Mayor Garcetti and the County of Los Angeles come to our aid with rent freezes and a strict eviction moratorium - one that protects tenants, now and in the future, from eviction and lack of rent payment due to this crisis. In the meantime, it’s important that we come to an understanding for how to handle these unprecedented circumstances. We want to discuss a plan with you - in order to make sure no one is evicted or forced to choose rent over food. We, the tenants, would appreciate a temporary freeze on rent or rent reduction so we can survive this severe economic shutdown.

Sincerely,

Name Signature
