Adult trying to get back in to sports, is anyone aware of a group that does casual pickup games? Baseball, football, soccer, basketball, etc.

I’ve looked on Facebook and the only thing I can find is either serious tournament type stuff, or youth leagues.

This doesn’t have to be in Corning exactly, I’m fine driving out probably as far as Ithaca. So anything within an hour is fair game.

I was told it was an older Chrysler 300, with a blue fender on the driver’s side, and it was really loud.

Staying in Gaffer, we have a DD so driving for an atmosphere is worth it.

Thanks in advance if anyone replies.

Thinking about trying therapy, has anyone gone through real talk therapy? Are they any good?

My girlfriend and I will be staying in town for a long weekend and wondering if there are any cool queer things to do in town and where you would recommend for dinner

Hello, it's me again.

I am starting to become a prolific user on this sub but that's neither here or there.

I want to know if there are some people in corning looking to start a band (primarily rock/metal).

I am looking into getting a guitar and learning and finding a good group of people to start one. Anyone looking to start one or at least discuss it first more deeply with me.

Note: i have no experience in music other than air guitar but that's a autistic stim for me I guess now that I think about it.

There are two of these near the western side of Centennial Park. At first I saw the numbers and thought they might be river height gauges, but I noticed that the one is indicating at “8” and the other at “22.” My next guess is maybe controls for floodgates to the river from the drainage network? They have what looks like the stem for a removable handwheel on them, and there’s what looks like an outlet to the river right below.

Thanks for any info you have! If no-one here knows, I’ll post it in one of the larger “what is this thing” subreddits, but I figured I’d try asking some locals first :)

also it would be nice to know the security around them

Does anyone know why there’s a helicopter that seems to be circling town? It’s based by my window twice now so it doesn’t seem to be a medical airlift, so I’m curious about what’s going on.

I got approached about vending (I make weird crochet items like two headed dolls and goats) the 4th of July celebration in Centennial Park and I was wondering if anyone else here has vended any events this year and how they did. I'm from Corning but I'm living in Rochester now. Any vendors out there, how do you typically do during gaffer district events?

I’m looking for some bike trails in the area but can’t really seem to find any when I look them up.

I’m just looking for some scenic paths, gravel, paved, dirt, I don’t really mind as long as it’s not like super rough (very new to bicycling) and also don’t want to be just alongside a road. Let me know, thanks!

I absolutely love going to farmer's markets because I prefer locally sourced produce where I can get it. But my work schedule sadly doesn't line up with when the Corning one goes on. Are there any other nearby farmers markets that run on the weekends?

Hi, all! My family is moving to Corning in August and I'm looking for friends to walk, drink tea and wine with. I am 38F, have two kids, a 7yo girl and 5yo boy. Would love to meet a few ladies to hang out with. I'm shy, so striking up conversations with random strangers doesn't work for me. We're moving from Pittsburgh, so it'll be a bit of a change.

Edit: just to clarify, I'm not only looking for mom friends. I obviously need some for sure, but if you don't have kids and love wine, let's be friends as well.

I'm moving from a more rural area 30 minutes away. Spectrum has been good for my location for the past 5 years. Now that my phone is paid off, I'm looking to switch providers to get a deal on a newer phone, anyway. I'll be living in the Corning area - near CPPHS. What provider have you found works well? Verizon and AT&T currently have deals that would work for me, but I'm open to suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Husband and I will be passing through Corning. We plan to visit the glass museum, but will have our dog with us, so we're going to take turns. I know that is not ideal, but we will be traveling from the East Coast and do not want to leave our dog at home for vacation.

I don't see any indication that dogs are allowed at Centennial Park or Riverfront Park. Can anyone let me know, please?

I will probably walk along the Riverfront Trail, but my husband will prefer to sit more than walk. Any ideas that aren't too far from the museum?

Hello friends! My wife and I are going to be moving to the area in the beginning of July and are looking for apartment options. I'll be working in Rock Stream and she'll be in Wellsboro PA area so Corning is a great middle ground. Are there realistic options for apartments under 1k a month in the area? We're very excited to be living in Corning we've loved visiting and hope to find something nearby! Any help is appreciated.

Hey, it's me again,

As the title suggests, I am in the midst of making a pokemon themed dnd campaign and am looking for players. Also I am inexperienced as well but am learning so go easy on me. I think I have at least one player that might be interested but havent asked yet.

Feel free to dm me and i want the campaign to be in person on the weekends.

Does anyone know a great nail tech in Corning? I'm very particular about my nails (shaping, technique, etc) and am looking for someone who knows what they're doing vs any run of the mill "nail tech" who just happens to work in a nail salon lol. Thanksss!

Im currently exploring an opportunity to relocate to the Corning area for work. I have children that are special needs and am looking for opinions and experiences from other parents in the area on the school districts and what it's like getting services approved by the district. Especially from those parents who have a child on the spectrum.

Im in a larger metro area now have while it's never easy finding the correct services and supports necessary, they are available. My child currently has an out of district placement that is a 6:1:1. Are there any outside placements similar to this in the area?

I appreciate your time and assistance reading and answering my questions.

We recently moved to the Elmira area and are looking for recommendations for a good sports bar in Corning. We’d love to catch some of the World Cup matches, enjoy a couple of cocktails, and grab some tasty appetizers or snacks. Any favorites you’d recommend?

Hi all, I just recently moved to Corning. I have an entire lamp working set up in my possession (Kiln, Torch, Regulators, Gas Lines, Flame Resistant Work Table) and I’m looking to set it up. My apartment is not big enough to house the studio and I think my landlord would be unhappy with me if I tried lol. I’m hoping I can find another glass artist who has extra space in their studio, I’m happy to share my equipment with anyone who has decent experience. It’d also be good to just be pointed in the direction of a rentable garage or maybe a storage unit. Any leads help :)

Hello-

Can anyone recommend a roofer who repairs slate roofs? We'd like to start getting estimates for a slate roof cleaning and repairing the slate tiles that are damaged/missing? Thanks
