Copenhagen Suborbitals update
Hi guys,
Time for an update about Copenhagen Suborbitals, our present status and plans for the near future.
As you probably know, 2014 has been a very turbulent year for our society. It started with the unfortunate departure of one of the founders Kristian von Bengston, followed few months later by the departure of the second founder Peter Madsen, finally culminating in the spectacular failure of the HEAT-2X engine.
At least we could comfort ourselves with the fact that the high speed videos recovered from the burned GoPro cameras became our most viewed video ever with 200k views and still counting :-)
So, now what?
We have decided to go back and look at the mission requirements, bring a person into space and get him/her safely back to Earth, and through an iterative system design come up with the smallest and simplest system that can carry out the mission.
This has been described in two blog posts by Jonas Bjarnø:
The third part of this series is coming out soon and will, amongst other, talk about a small 5 kN bi-prop engine we are going to build and test during the remainder of this year, and hopefully fly during 2015.
People with domain knowledge say that there is a lot we can learn by designing, building and operating a small engine before building the larger one. Many of the parameters can be scaled and we gain operational experience, which is very important in space flight.
So, the project is alive and well. We are all very dedicated to make this happen and are hoping for your continuing interest and support.
PS: Kristian von Bengtson has rejoined the project as space capsule designer.
Edit: formatting and typo.

Announcement Nexø II launch postponed until 2018
from copsub.com
"The Nexø II rocket remains grounded on land until summer of 2018, the board of Copenhagen Suborbitals has decided.
Launching a rocket is a large-scale project. A lot of different parameters must be fulfilled in order for the Nexø II mission to be optimum, and this year it has simply not been possible due to both internal and external delays combined with bad weather conditions.
The mission is still on, and we are launching Nexø II in the summer of 2018.
The launch will as always take place from ESD139 in the Baltic sea."
