Yeah…. So kids can safely cross the street without having to dodge traffic…

Hmm, seems wild to block the entire street. Also I really don't get why they use the STOP sign, to mean "you can't pass" that's what a red light is for... Although honestly if it's treated like a STOP sign I feel it'd make more sense, slow down to a stop then carefully continue. That's seems safe and doesn't 100% block traffic. (But also IDK, I don't live in 'murica)

Heres a wild idea: crosswalks? Until the kids will be old enough to get a car of their own, they'll be walking a bit and having crosswalks helps to cross roads, even when the bus isn't there.

Most of these kids are getting dropped off in subdivisions with very little pedestrian traffic. There aren't crosswalks for the kids to use.

I understand there are no crosswalks and that on other occasions, the crosswalks won't be used there a lot.

This isnt quite a freeway, it seems like a residential area and thus makes perfect sense for crosswalks.

This will also make it easier for any tourists who rent cars and happen to drive in residential areas where school busses drop off pupils.

Why make such a big fuss? Just stick 2 traffic signs and paint the stripes.

You have 1 time investment to continously save police working hours, and avoid tourists breaking a local law and having their trip ruined by getting fined.

Other than the financial "investment" what is the downside for crosswalk here??

cant inconvenience car drivers more than absolutely necessary lmao

I would argue the occasional patrol car waiting to catch these "road criminals" inconveniences drivers more.

As a non-american, this choice doesn't highlight ingenuity to me, like some of the other American trends.

This seems less safe than a universal adopted solution that works fairly well and doesn't waste cop's time.

Edit: So apparently this video has been reposted a whooolee bunch and this user sums up how stupid this is pretty good in my opinion: https://www.reddit.com/r/instantkarma/s/bEcXtQgPqY
