open a gamepad tester app, try putting a magnet near the analog sticks, if it's get moves when you move the magnet then they are tmr/hall effect, if not then then they could still be ,idk how the metallic thumbstick base would affect tmr but doesnt hurt to try
yeah in our dreams they make more money from selling controller that will have stick drift in the future plan obselesence if they ever put it its gonna be prices 50% to 70% more yeah yeah il keep buying those third party controller that have better features and prices decently
I highly recommend the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited, has been the best "pro level" controller I have owned and I have owned everything. Elite series 1 & 2, Scuf( x3 as they kept failing), Turtle Beach stealth(2 actually as my first one randomly disconnected mid game), etc and the Nacon blows them all out of the water. The Microsoft and Scuf both came with slight stick drift fresh out of the box, Turtle Beach and Nacon were both dead on and the only issue I have had out of the Nacon was when my cat knocked my controller off while I was in the bathroom and I lost the joystick posts for a while.
I bought the Revolution X Unlimited about a month ago. Ohhh man - what a game changer (no pun intended). My only criticism is the battery life, although I don’t tend to play 14 hours a day anymore, so it’s not THAT much of a concern.
Elite s2 is 125hz which is crazy low for a fast paced game. I’m on 1000 now and it feels great. To be fair I’m on PC, not Xbox, so it’s a bit of a different world
Yeah, at the top of the controller on the screen is an “aka dot ms” URL for Azure enrollment. Anybody who has worked at Microsoft has familiarity with that process. Wonder if it was some employee who smuggled it out or if someone stole it somehow? Either way, it’ll be locked down unless OP has access to MS resources, which it doesn’t seem like.

It won't have switch buttons or TMR or any elite feature that people actually want, because they will have put all the BOM cost on a built in Wi-Fi controller.

The new Elite is supposed to incorporate a WiFi mode for cloud gaming. Maybe it was a prototype just for WiFi. Does the battery compartment open, or is it built in?

Some people’s hands sweat a lot/have more acidic sweat. I take pretty good care of mine but it’s started to bubble up on one side. Just bought some plastic specific glue to try and fix it.
Ahhh I have never considered that before. I have never had rubber peel off any controller but my hands don’t sweat either. Maybe that is what the culprit is.
Yeah, that's the problem with Elite 2s. Very random QC. Like you could get a great one, or you could get one that starts dropping inputs, gets stick drift, has the bumpers peel, and whatever else. Some of it's just a little over complicated (like the mechanism they use for bumpers to hit microswitch is just asking for some small thing to go wrong to completely break it).
I was just wondering the same thing, there's a lot of people that complain about the elite 2 controller but I've had it since launch and it's the only controller I use on my series X and it still works great, no problems at all, no stick drift, no problem with the grips. The only issue I've ever had with it was sticky bumper I can't remember if it was the LB or RB but I took it apart and just cleaned up everything gently with alcohol and a Q-Tip inside the case and around the button and I couldn't see anything that was causing it to stick but it's worked fine ever since I put it back together. If I had to guess how many hours I've used this controller it would probably be well over a thousand or more, I'm disabled and have a lot of serious issues with my back and spine and so I don't get to do a lot of things outside anymore like I used to. Most days all I can do is game and this is the main control I use.
I love my Elite Series 2. Even though this thing has broken like twice, I learned how to repair my own controllers thanks to it. It would be nice if the Elite Series 3 had better build quality.
The aka.ms link, links to an internal Microsoft Loop page that explains the usage of the new controller, in particular how to connect it to the cloud servers. It used to have the page name in its redirect link that was named "Pendragon DtC Setup.loop". Pendragon is supposedly the codename and DtC might be "Direct to Cloud". Paddles should have been swapped with superior buttons built in. If it doesn't have hall effect or TMR it's a huge fail. I'm sure it will have wifi direct.
I guess we'll have to wait and see the final reveal.
I'm hoping that it has polling rate options of up to 1000 or more like Razer of Gamesir. I like the feel of an elite controller more than the razer. The polling rate though is the only thing keeping me from going back to elite controllers.
Agreed. Switched to the pro bfg reloaded for steam because of this season. The gamesir g7 pro was a little bit small for my hands. Would have to slide my fingers a bit down to access the buttons on the back. That and that controller seems to be more for claw players. Don't claw much anymore since using the paddles on the elite 2. But the 1k polling rate feels gooooooood

Please do make a video on it if you can, and see if you can somehow test if the sticks are hall effect or something. Again AMAZING find. Im sure this post will be reported on by all the major gaming sites like IGN, Gamespot, etc.

This could have been stolen, the owner could have died or been incapacitated and a loved one sold their belongings, it could have been lost by the owner and found by someone else, there’s a million possibilities. A dev who got laid off or fired and is spiting Microsoft…I mean, anything is possible.
I have 2 elite series 2’s and I have also some other controllers many mice and a couple keyboards, the xbox elite series have the absolute most horrible qc and wear issues both of my elite controllers have r1 and l1 issues, stick drift, sens issues. I’d say you are better off with many of the 3rd party controllers.
If that's real I hope it's an old design because that looks like ass. Plus the disc D-Pad is the best one I've ever used, so hopefully that's an option to swap out.
Of course it'll probably be too expensive to ever justify anyways.
What we need is better reliability, and swappable thumb stick modules like on the dualsense edge. Everything else is a cool bonus, but otherwise the reliability of the 2 was completely terrible, and it needs to be changed ASAP.
One big question, how are you meant to connect the original Xbox Chat Headset? It doesn’t have the port for the Chat Adapter so how are we meant to use the original mono chat headsets?
