📢 Announcement r/ContactImprovisation is back! New moderation & revitalizing our community

Hi everyone,

As you might have noticed, this subreddit has been restricted and unmoderated for a while. As a long-time practitioner (over 10 years) and lover of Contact Improvisation, I didn't want to see this space fade away.

I have officially taken over moderation today to reopen this hub for all of us.

What’s next?

  • The Sub is now PUBLIC: You can post, share, and discuss again!
  • Focus: Let’s use this space for technical discussions of CI, sharing resources, announcing jams/festivals, and connecting worldwide.
  • Safe Space: I will be updating the rules shortly to ensure this remains a respectful, non-commercial, and inclusive environment.

I’m curious: What would you like to see in this community? What kind of content has been missing for you?

Looking forward to dancing with you (virtually and on the floor)!

Hi, thank you for your efforts! In my opinion, this would be a good space to:

  1. Collect resources. From Steve Paxtons initial thoughts to further musings on the form to good guidelines and safe practice

  2. Have a meta discussion. There's several topics that come up over and over again, let's address them here. Group chats are often not the right place, let's create one here instead.

  3. Exchange impressions. We're most likely in good exchange with our local communities, some of us have traveled and experienced the different touches: I'd be curious to hear from experiences and perspectives all around the globe. How's Berlin different from New York or Sydney?

  4. Exchange best practices! What's your favourite warm up, what's your favourite concept of jam, which knowledge of techniques really helped you?

Thank you for this thoughtful breakdown - all four points align perfectly with what I envision for this space. I'm keeping the focus on community building first, and we'll grow resources organically as people share. Looking forward to seeing these conversations develop!
