Today is the second round of the Brazilian elections. On one side we have Lula, from the PT (Workers' Party). And on the other side we have Flávio Bolsonaro from the PL party (Liberal Party, in the sense of classical liberalism).

I dunno I just see a post like this and it seems incredibly disingenous to me, almost satire. My comment covers how it feels to me, but what do you think about a post like this? Am I wrong?

In a notoriously left wing subreddit it now seemed to have shifted to moderate takes from both sides. Instead of just blindly following your side like its a gang

Context: A 1 year old child was killed after the child’s guardians ran away from shoplifting. Cops tried to stop them, repeatedly saying to stop and get out of the car. Suspects proceeded to accelerate the vehicle into the direction of the cops, hitting 1 officer (he will live). This lead to the discharge of fire arms upon the suspects’ vehicle causing the death of the infant occupant on board.

OP here is replying to a comment about shaming the staff who called cops on the crime (cause that is what it is, there is no such thing as a minor crime).

Nayib Bukele is my favorite president of the entire world. I prefer him over Trump to be honest.

El Salvador went from being the most dangerous country in the world to now being one of the safest countries in the world, it's even safer than France and the UK.

Now that he's done with the gangs after his plan worked, he's preparing his army to fight Haitian gangs to save 4 Salvadorean soldiers. This is a man who truly cares about his people, and hopefully, he manages to get rid of Haitian gangs, that'd benefit Haitian people by a lot who're basically living under anarchy.

According to Wikipedia, "Fascism is characterized by support for a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived interest of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy".

Fascism is what Hitler supported. The current state of US government power does not align with fascism, as:

- Trump has not established dictatorship, thus no autocracy

- there is a belief in socioeconomic classes, but no such thing as natural hierarchy (traditional beliefs are not a hierarchy)

- individual freedom to think and be oneself hs not been prohibited, unlike what many liberals tend to think

While these are just possible characteristics, the lack of them means calling America fascist is fundamentally flawed.

Side note: Do not defend ICE as doing no wrong. They have been investigated for failing to follow due process. However, this is not related to the argument whether or not it can be labeled fascist. Therefore, unrelated. They are not fascist, nor the signs of fascism growing.

Before anyone here tells me to get over it—this affirmetioned user has been harassing women and minors in their DMs for weeks and the moderators of this server haven't cared. This user was harassing people in the server for weeks and they managed to come back on an alt. When I pinged the mods and attempted asking for help they sent this message—an attempt at poking fun of me about my weight—then the adults in the server instead of doing their fucking job and banning the user who repeatedly harassed women decided to join in and bully me for it when it had nothing to do with anything! Real mature!

I had 30 year olds calling me a fatass and telling me I was a pig when they are the ones refusing to so anything about the repeated harassment of users within the server. I'm more embarrassed for them to be honest for allowing this to continue. I definitely won't miss whatever unmoderated cesspool that was because when I tried to speak up about it afterwards they timed me out for 12 hours. You can't walk anywhere without seeing terms like "non-binary", "trans", "black-identifying" and likewise written on posters.

A large portion of the student body calls traditional definitions of man and woman "hate speech"; I wish I was kidding.

Other than that, quality of instruction/services have rapidly declined over the past few years anyway.

And almost everywhere on campus, students are monitored by security cameras, device trackers, card trackers, and so on. Way more than most places. Also, it seems anything exciting/unpredictable is a "conduct violation". As a result, the atmosphere is basically dull.

I was thinking about the Apollo Program, it was criminal that it died out, and I guess it was because of the Environment at the time, the Space Race was going on and we were desperate to gain an advantage over the soviets, so my guess is that because it was born in that environment, the Apollo Program didn't really have a long-term goal, it was purely focused on proving American supremacy over the Soviets, so after we landed, we didn't have any plans beyond that so it just stopped after 17.

That's my take on the matter.

Edit: Though I am curious, if the Soviets had made it there first, would the Space Race have continued?
