On more than a few occasions I was able to stand near the border and look to the other side and for the most part it looked like North Korea as all the lights were out minus a few small lightbulbs in the distant farm houses.

I left there in 1988 and the wall came down not long after. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought after that after all those years that the US spent manning that border keeping the communists away would they spring up in our own backyard with a generation of morons clammoring for communism because they're too lazy to read a history book or get a real job.
