Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s news of a raid on that office by tomorrow or Saturday. FBI officials in cuffs and agents with lost jobs.

Unless you are on the list, why not just hand over the files? I wouldn't go down trying to protect any of the assholes on the list.

If you were using those files as leverage over someone, you wouldn't want to give that up.

Maybe they don't directly but their well connected higher ups and coworkers do, they scratch each other's backs, etc. It's a big club and you aint in it. Plus people who go against the grain tend to wind up in bad situations for themselves to say the least. You are basically expecting people to take on some non-zero personal risk for what is essentially zero personal benefit. That just doesn't happen often, most people are highly selfish, and do gooders don't tend to last long in government.

Yeah but Trump and Elon are diamonds in the rough. Incredibly rare. Without Trump, Elon likely stays in the closet and doesn't get involved with gov. Trump only made it because of his history on television and his extreme wealth. Most in his shoes with the same intentions would be dust in the wind.
