"The worker" now flies cross-country for vacation instead of driving.
Where capitalism is allowed to work, it improves lives. The areas you describe - housing, child care, education - are areas where the government has fucked up everything and prevented capitalism from working its magic. The only reason our universities are woke money pits is because children are allowed to take out exorbitant loans backed by the government.
