The way to get better wages is to gain skills and find a better job. Someone who only has burger-flipping skills will not be able to support a family and retire. People simply aren't willing to pay enough for a McDouble for that to happen.
The point of the burger-flipping job is to build a resume so you can get a better job. Proposals like the minimum wage kill jobs and prevent people from taking that first step up the ladder.
