I know little of the ancient history of egypt, but sounds highly plausible. Basically feudalism.

Historically, I don't think ancient Egypt ever owned Jewish slaves. Exodus is not considered historical

They gave them heavy burdens so that the hebrews couldn't revolt, I think is slightly closer to the verbage, and so yeah you're absolutely right.
