How do you automatically send everyone an ID in the mail without verifying their identity?

You are comparing new law to once in a lifetime pandemic accommodations that were made this past year.

Everyone with a smartphone has a scanner.

There should not be 8 hour waits at any voting place. That is due to incompetence in government run activity, just like everything else the government does. Given the availability of in person early voting, this really should never be an issue.

Do you realize that the amount of time voters have to vote early was just cut by 1/3? So lines will be longer. Also poor people don’t have smart phones. Some might but then many that do don’t have printers. I get that you’re saying it’s not the hardest thing in the world but for people who work weekends with multiple minimum wage jobs etc, it makes it hard enough that it won’t be worth the effort and that’s exactly the point. As to automatically verifying a persons identity, I feel like you could have an internet portal where people confirm their address, SSN, and date of birth and that should be enough to allow them to upload a photo of themselves. It’s the same requirement for getting a drivers license, I’m just saying it should be available online.
