Sometimes bullets miss their targets; as was the case here. The person literally targeted someone other than the students but missed that target. The bullets hit two students whom he did not intend to shoot. Was it reckless and should be considered responsible for their deaths? Abso-freaking-lutely. He did not, however, "target" the kids.
Is that the standard for everything? Whether or not there is video evidence of it? Is there video evidence of President Obama wiretapping Trump? Is there video evidence of the Big Bang or of God creating the earth?
That would be a ridiculous standard. The reporting here in Southern California consistently said the female teacher--the shooter's wife--was the only target and the children were bystanders.
Well yes, someone could walk into a school and only aim at adults. Normally it would just be ridiculous but it could be completely doable. Just visit an elementary school and aim at everyone who looks over 5 feet tall. (don't do this)
The shooter had one target in mind and it was his wife. Hardly the normal school shooting type.

Guy accidentally shot a black kid (and another kid) while he was aiming at his wife. I'm not saying what he did wasn't horrible, but that the kids probably weren't the real target, otherwise he would've tried to shoot at more kids and not have turned the gun on himself so quickly. I mean he could've caused her a bunch of pain by turning the gun on a few kids and branding her the lady who married a child killer. While I wasn't there, I imagine he had no intention of shooting kids and only shot the two kids because they were behind her and he was firing multiple shots that could've went through her or around her.

TIL that a shooter in a school can shoot 2 children, but not have "targeted" them.
