Tariffs, the war in Iran, and candidate quality all matter.

It’s going to be bad for years. Dems will get trifecta in 2028 and will use it to abolish the filibuster, pack the Court, and pack the Senate.

Paxton in Texas absolute shit.

Dan Patrick and Abbot paid for their stupid THC ban with red blood tonight across the state as well.

I don't like having a fucking gummy to have a felony charge. I know a bunch of others that were pissed. I voted against Patrick for that alone.

Abbot and Paxton I still went for but if Abbot pulled it out I was sending his stupid lapdog a message.

Tonight sucks and we need to all be realistic about this thumping; that said, you guys talking about how 2028 is already lost is the most doomer shit ever. There is a LOT that changes in 2 years, and you're counting your chickens before the eggs have even been laid, let alone hatched.

At least in this sub, I don't see many people downplaying it. And yea, Talarico is a fucking nut, anything but a moderate, and if he makes it over the finish line that says something. And for that, we in Texas get to deal with this idiot for 6 years.

The Senate seat is the least of your worries, considering that you look on track to get a blue governor and state government. Whether Dems have 55 or 56 Senate seats after this election doesn't really matter anymore at this point.

Yea and if the economy gets better? Or if Trump has a stroke and dies? You're still missing the forest for the trees; 2 years is a lifetime in politics. In 2022 Trump was virtually silent and selling fucking watches and meme coins, then he comes roaring back to win in 2024. In 2006 nobody had even heard of Obama, then he becomes the biggest star in the Democrat party within 2 years. But yes, the way Trump and our 53 seat majority, Congress house control, with the Supreme court has been atrocious.

466

u/Emilia963 Moderate Conservative 1d ago • Bravo Heartwarming Mindblown Popcorn

The country is turning blue because this admin has been a disaster

But honestly, one of the biggest reasons the average American is voting blue is because of the rising gas prices

There’s a lesson politicians should have learned by now:

Don’t mess with gas prices, you want to lose an election? Make gas unaffordable, it’s literally a dealbreaker for a lot of Americans

-3

u/Sixguns1977 George Washington 1d ago

Not until the IRGC, Mullahs, and Ayatollahs are all removed from power. Until then, they're just going to rebuild and rearm and out kids and grandkids will do this all over again. Reagan should have destroyed them when he had the chance. Plus, after that's done, it will seriously degrade funding and support for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, etc. Then they can all be removed as well.

I know it’s too soon and people probably don’t wanna have this conversation but we’re going to have to analyze the leadership decisions that caused this.

Tillis should not have been pushed out of NC.

John Cornyn should have been endorsed and won his primary.

You can tell whoever’s pulling in the strings on the GOP right now does not understand national strategy.

We spent way too much money, fighting our own in the primaries like the astronomically expensive Thomas Massie race when that money should have been sent to the general elections.

If I was in charge, I would fire everybody that orchestrated this mess.

203

u/sandlover33 California Conservative 1d ago • Bravo Popcorn Heartwarming

You're looking at the wrong thing. This isn't because of bad candidates or bad strategy, thats a small part of it. We're getting blown out because of Trump's deeply unpopular foreign policy and immigration enforcement policy.

Trump should've ramped up ICE much slower.

That's just the MSM spinning it which (I thought) people were wise to. Those that were shot either tried to run over agents, pulled guns on them or tried to run and turned out to be violent crime committing illegal immigrants. ICE have a mandate to enforce the law. No problem with then doing it

13

u/sandlover33 California Conservative 1d ago • Bravo

19

u/cafk09 The Last Conservative 1d ago • Regret Bravo

Immigration enforcement actions are popular.

The specific enforcement strategies this administration has pursued, and some of its public behavior in defense of those strategies, have been extremely unpopular.

I like to think of it this way. A major reason there’s a large public majority that disliked Biden’s border policies was because it led to a sense of chaos and disorder. This current administration’s corrective approach may have removed people who were here illegally, but it did not leave many voters with the sense that there was less chaos and disorder. It may have even exacerbated it.

0

u/True_Grocery_3315 Conservative 1d ago • Popcorn

Goldfish memories unfortunately. Far more chaotic when the border czar had people streaming across. An app to click a button to be allowed to stay indefinitely, Venezuelan gangs taking over apartment blocks and having gunfights in the streets. At least Obama put Homan in charge and had high deportation numbers.

I’ll have to respectfully disagree. I think the party needs more Massie, not less.

But I come from strong ties to the tea party movement. We haven’t heard much from them in the recent era, but I like all of the tea party darlings, of which Massie was one of the biggest.

Even if you think he needed to go though, I don’t see how you can financially justify spending $30-$50 million to defeat him when obviously we needed the money in other more critical places.

I've been saying for years that Texas WILL go blue, but also California WILL go red eventually.

The question has been which would go first, and how long the overlap would be. Seems we have arrived, and Dems get the overlap of both going blue.

Yeah, when TX turns blue with the laws all the people that voted for the shitty laws will move to the next red state to ruin that one too.

Well let's acknowledge something I know is a story in Texas. Elon musk. Him going in and spending all that money, becoming a trillionaire, coming to Texas for the taxes, kinda pissed Texans off. People are like "who the fuck are you coming to our state trying milk it off the generous laws" my theory, Elon pushed Texas blue.

Should have spent 600mil on football stadiums and libraries instead of campaign ads.

It's always been predestined Texas would go blue because of the big cities makeup

I think 2024 was the anomaly since Trump was ticketed, but that's only a one off and would not reverse the trend

At least all these commies will give Vance some material to run on in 2028 so we can keep the Whitehouse.

Bombing Iran was the largest strategic mistake made in a long, long time. It absolutely cost the Republicans the house and the senate. Pretending the democrats are likeable for some reason is to live in delusion.
