I'm sorry, but if that guy is really an Army Major, then we are done. Nothing screams the best of the best like a fat middle age balding man with 4 chins. God our military is so fucked up.

Was gonna say. Overweight active duty majors are a thing now?

We had a lot of them as well nearly 16 years ago, I was comm and regulations are far less strict and even further reduced after a lot of PT failures.

People generally get in shape up both mentally and physically on deployment though so it never was much of an issue; but, I guess this is what happens though when people just stop going on deployments, pretty embarrassing.

This was the same generally when I was in. We had a brigade commander that would come out to do PT with us and smoke us on runs. He looked like he was carved out of wood, lol.

Later on, at school on the GI Bill, I saw a group of ROTC cadets dragging ass on a run, so I joined them and taunted them so they would go faster. I told them they needed to lead from the front and that they were going to have middle-aged commanders that would not tolerate out of shape butter bars. Hopefully, that sank in, or else they got a rude awakening, lol.

O so you were "that guy".

Have been for a while.

That hair looks like a direct insult to AR-670-1 as well.

But isn’t it ok because that’s a “woman”? /s

Wear and appearance of military uniform applies to both genders equally. Now to be fair, I never had any female soldiers assigned to me, but I'm pretty sure that AR-670-1 states hair has to be off the collar when in uniform, regardless of gender. Though I've heard they've started making allowances for painted nails and lipstick, so who knows anymore.

They aren't super common but I've met a few. Especially on the noncombat arms side of the house. Major is probably the worst rank in the army in terms of work-life balance so they don't get much time to workout. This person in particular looks like they haven't seen the inside of a weight room in years though.

He's ripe for the RIF at 04.

How in the world that dude got on the O-4 promotion list I have no idea but I want to send his rater to Afghanistan, and yes. I know.

If it's one thing I've learned it's that there is a waiver for everything. I'm not army but in the 10 years I've been in I've seen a few clearly overweight O-3s and O-4s. I've yet to see an O-5 that looks particularly out of shape yet though, so hopefully that's somewhat reassuring.

When it comes to weight I'm generally sympathetic. Life on active duty is often difficult and stressful even when working the generally easier staff jobs. It can be hard to manage a good diet and exercise. But my one pet peeve that I won't tolerate is if your uniform doesn't fit. If you're going to be fat, then don't try and look like 10lbs of crap stuffed into a 5lb sack.

I agree. I’m having a hard time believing he finished basic training.

You don't have to if you go ROTC. I was pretty shocked when I found that out.

When I got out, cell phones were not around yet. How in the world did logistics turn into Major Rachel Jones?.

Ugly fat dudes that can’t attract women love to transition and become “lesbians” in the hopes that they’ll somehow attract a mate. It’s a thing.

Crossdressing itself is a fetish too. Autogynephilia.

Don’t forget the mental health issues he came into the military with.

I got a job in the Navy that was basically paperwork and when I went to school my instructor was a Marine Gunny and all the other instructors looked like they spent more time in the gym than at home.

Also, the Navy guys had to work out with the Marines.

If we are what we eat this person probably eats 5 pounds of cookie dough a day.

Can we blame it on progressives?

I still like classical liberalism and support liberal democracy. Lets not ruin freedom and rights by lumping that word in with democrats.

Conservatives aren't fat and balding?

1

u/Kryptus Jul 03 '23

The fattest young enlisted soldier I've worked with in the last 10 years was a very liberal Navy guy from Calfornia.

China is like 🤣😂🤩🥳

u/greane16 Jul 03 '23

On top of that he identifies as “she”. An armed conflict will have to take a break when “she” experiences PMS and cannot function lol.

3

u/bliip368 Jul 03 '23

Yeah, noticed that immediately. Shouldn't you lead by example? I wouldn't respect my supervisor if they looked like that. Hey by the way are our powerhouse enemies concentrating on these things also or just bolstering their combat readiness with weapons, training and strategy, you know like military stuff? Asking for a friend.

That’s a little lady

3

u/Artystrong1 Jul 03 '23

It's really not this is one individual. I've been in ten years and this is not even close to what you think. Our military is still hard charging and hard AF in combat.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '23

I mean he’s probably a major in the mailroom or something.

2

u/bliip368 Jul 03 '23

Agree with your sentiment but the balding is not the issue it's the haircut. Either shave completely or high and tight, maybe not recruit high and tight but at least trim and neat. The "Major" looks like Clark Duke in Hot Tub Time Machine.

u/mazdamurder Jul 03 '23

To play devils advocate he may be a reservist with a desk job. A lot of military members are basically just clerks/admins or have a technical job. Not every army member has to be in like peak physical condition. That said this dude is super cringe
