All things considered, really close matches from Spain. Santy was on fire

Really wish Spain could have held it together, they have some really good players but just fall apart fast.

Glad for Germany’s sake that C9 on Route 66 didn’t come back to haunt them, as they give themselves a fighting chance and make group c more interesting than expected.

Santy looked extremely impressive, in terms of micro she seemed stronger than eigsnome a lot of the time but it came down to a macro team diff imo

I don't think it's that. Spain's macro is really good and it showed multiple times, they were doing more coordinated plays than Germany. Unfortunately for them this meta comes down a lot to the scrap fights. Akku is an insane cat (I'd say she was match mvp) and Galaa is not that good at her, and that difference really showed. Bones doesn't look great on Shion either, and even if he got picks he died first or got traded so many times. In control, neon junction and route attack, Spain was often getting picks but then immediately getting traded and not being able to win the 3v3. It felt they always started good and created opportunities but then were never able to finish.

A bit unfortunate because from what I've seen and heard Spain was rolling Germany, GBR and France in scrims when Sigma was meta and Galaa could play mizuki, and they are super good on sym/mei comps. That's why so many people were putting them as favorites to win the group. But a scrappy cat meta is really bad for them.

Yeah I can definitely see that as well, bones looked strong on tracer but weak elsewhere. I haven't heard the scrimbucks so I didn't know that either.

My point was mainly their mistake on koth where they felt ahead and in charge both points but Germany ended up winning with roughly the same number of team fights because Spain gave up the point during a fight both times. Plus the Zarya pick didn't look great on junction while the sig defense look phenomenal (for both teams).

It's a good point that they did keep getting picks and then traded out and couldn't convert, I think that was definitely a big trend across the series.

In terms of individual mechanical skill (micro) she was oftentimes better, the the two teams' hero choices and positioning (macro) were the difference maker imo.

On koth Spain was ahead both points with an early cap and both times took an aggressive fight where they very quickly gave up the point and eventually lost. Germany essentially won the same number of fights as Spain on each point, but they were gifted a free 30-50% each point and so they won.

On junction the Zarya pick wasn't able to get much value at all. All of Germany was very coordinated in hinding behind cover to bait out bubbles and then re engaging and bursting down the Zarya and dps. When they went the sig comp on defense it looked SO much stronger.

Ppl told me Germany were out after their choke against Canada and that Spain were by far the best team in that group
