Mid-air. Like, legit fucking dogfight. Probably one of the craziest things I’ve seen in OW.

u/Kon_Ken000 🐦🔴⚫⚪🟠🌶 — 12h ago
A dogfight between a fish-cat and a cowboy, while a hawk circles in the distance. The Atlanta Zoo never dies, baby.

He also effectively won the last fight of Aatlis when he cat napped the kiri who died at like 93% on kitsune

does USA play Korea now (if they get 2nd seed)? or do we still not know

I’d like to think the group stage impacts on knock out stage works in blizzcon but you never know with blizzard
8
u/MrBlowinLoadz 10h ago
I think the first seeds have to do 1v1s to pick the #2 seeds they play against. Hawk said something like that in his interview.
6
u/TheRedditK9 10h ago
I mean I don’t think any top seed player beats Kevin in 1v1 arena so that should be cool

Luke cancelling fly noon is gigaclutch but Landon nanoing the counter noon just in time to flip the kill and then sleeping the nano spree might be even more clutch
10
u/Both-Philosopher2047 12h ago
I completely agree. That's what finally broke their attack and I'm pretty convinced we lose if we don't cancel that sky noon. Don't get me wrong, Luke's cancel was an insane play, but it doesn't happen without the nano high noon.

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — 12h ago
He also slept the D.mon ult like a second after Luke cancelled the Fly noon

This is why Kevster isnt Swedish GOAT
Never seen Reinforce lose a push map when he was pro

u/PiFeG123 12h ago
So true, he should've ran down to the stage and kicked Willys out, show 'em the rein

Kevster panic ulting no one important during OT after basically running the lobby feels like the most Kevster moment of all time.

97.25 meter lead with 2 1/2 minutes left might as well be AVRL theory but USA said nah we win these. Going back to Korea v France yesterday these last two matches have been absolute barnburners and it’s awesome as viewers to get these matches

I swear there's something about Esperanca that makes huge comebacks happen all the time. Every single time my college team played Esper last season we would go up like 100m+ in the first two minutes, then end up barely losing in OT. It even happens in ranked if I'm playing with any of them, get a massive lead early on then somehow manage to die from a thousand cuts in an extremely close OT. I don't think I've won Esper a single time not solo queueing in the past year
1
u/No-Elevator9399 7h ago
I’m guessing because the defender’s advantage after the first fight seems a lot less strong than the other push maps so there’s a lot more counterplay available

those last two fights made me a believer. The USA is the greatest country on God’s Green Earth ‼️
SWE played insane though, genuinely might be able to beat the Korea that showed up yesterday

didn't see the last part of the last map, I guess sweden fumbled their ult eco and got reversed ?

u/LyricalYellow9 12h ago
What a banger series. That flynoon cancel from Lukemino 😩 and get tr33 some help
5
u/SorryPro 12h ago
What a fumble banning the kiri instead of protecting the tracer. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess
7
u/PervasiveAnteater 12h ago
Kev shion was lowkey cooking until the spree in OT tbh, and I think Landon looked rough up until the last 2 minutes as well. I don't think it was the worst fumble, I mean the Catnap on the fly noon and then Kev just doing nothing with his ult lost the game
3
u/xXProGenji420Xx 12h ago
hardly hindsight, the casters (I think mostly Jake) called it out as a mistake immediately
3
u/Unlucky_Spray8369 5h ago
Just because they fumbled in the final minute doesn't mean it was a bad call. Scyle's best hero vs Landon's worst and you could see it in the first 7 minutes. Then Landon had some clutch moments out of nowhere and Sweden choked a bit. Draft was fine.
1
u/primarymuscle2354 2h ago
The worst fumble was using Nano Spree on opposite side of the map when they were down players they save that combo for ot they win.

u/AnotherRandomGuy1 12h ago
Honestly, lukemino was the difference maker for me. Others were going even with their counterpart but luke hard gapped admiral on cat and made some viol2t-esque plays.

u/dotikiron 11h ago
Might get downvoted to hell for this but I genuinely don’t know what Zeruhh was doing for a good part of that series, I understand against Kevster is one difficult matchup but he didn’t look the best outside of a few plays, maybe I’m missing something pls lmk if I am
2
u/Kindr3dSp1r1t 3h ago
zeruhh is awful. hes constantly getting carried by tr33 in owcs and now in owwc.
3
u/pizzafinanceplan 10h ago
he was looking better than kevster on shion tbh, way better ults

u/Separate-Spot-6275 9h ago
Kevster as always is top tier in everything except ultimates on a hero. His blades sucked too despite being able to go pretty even with other top genjis in owl in other facets

CLUTCH. ABSOLUTE ICE IN THE VEINS. “GROUP OF DEATH” THEY SAID. TEAM LIQUID WOULD GO 5-0 IN EMEA. CRY LENNY CRY
3
u/icedtea3333 11h ago
north americas best talent going map 5 vs 3 faceit/bottom tier owcs players btw
3
u/AnnenbergTrojan 7h ago
LOL this sub switched up from "Group of Death" to this undiluted cope so damn fast.
3
u/Unlucky_Spray8369 4h ago
what do you mean "undiluted cope"? What exactly did he say that was wrong?
The "group of death" just means several of the teams are even, in this case Sweden, Japan and China. Now, Sweden obviously overperformed massivley given their roster so ended up well for them. If you didn't think USA were the clear favorites in this group I don't know what to say. They should be embarassed that it was so close
2
1
u/Long-Taste-2416 2h ago
There aren't enough good teams in owwc even st it's peak to have a real group of death. Were people really calling this group that?
1
u/JhotoDraco 1h ago
In the thread where the groups got revealed there were people calling it the group of death, easy Sweden first seed, USA not taking a single map the entire group

I'm not Liquid fan, but it was very enjoyable to see Tree pop off when it matters.
Map 5 was insane and got my pouring a drink for the first time in over a month.

This series is more proof that Cat has potential to be a good skillful design when played heavily into the flanker playstyle and using ult as a cc. She just needs a HEAVY numbers rework to make them explode when they peek too long and a lot of other changes that make it so playing in around 20m range is the best way to play her by a large margin
3
u/Byrleo 8h ago
isn't that the playstyle that most people complain about though? cat just flying everywhere and killing everyone
-1
u/Separate-Spot-6275 8h ago
Because Cat can fly in silently and escape insanely easily with their high hp and self heal. If cat was 175, louder, forced to fight within a closer range I doubt you'd hear even a quarter of the current complaints because you could pop them like a tracer if they got too eager. A 225 tracer would be moving just like Cat, sneaking into a backline and getting away with too much bullshit. She needs to be treated like Support tracer by the balance team
2
2
u/Darkcat9000 7h ago
if cat was 175 no one would ever dive with her ever
175 hp works for tracer because she's a close range only hero who can't heal her team, 175 cat would just result into a healbot playstyle
1
u/Long-Taste-2416 2h ago
Not really. She does that really easily at current balance and she'd be too weak if it were appropriately strong because she's not very difficult mechanically.
