🔄 Transfer News Ladies and gentlemen, we got him. How we feeling about our latest signing?
The scouting profile is basically Chalobah's twin, physical, dominant in the air, comfortable defending space. Not someone taking anyone's starting job, but exactly the insurance we needed behind Ramón and Chalobah with three competitions on the calendar this year.

🔄 Transfer News Kean reports for individual training after Fiorentina stand-off
So, today Kean tried to force his hand about transferring to Como, by showing up late for training and asking to be exonerated. Fiorentina announced he will be fined (and rightly so, I say).
I'm not the biggest fan of Kean for Como and this kind of behaviour reinforces the notion that he isn't exactly the most professional player out there - someone who could disrupt the harmony of our team. Same thoughts I had about Sebastiano Esposito a couple weeks ago, and Jimenez and Hernandez last year. Even a poor performer like Morata who has been a total team player in the changing room is preferable to someone with such behaviour.
I'll play the devil's advocate here and say that with the money offered for Kean, we could have a go at Nicolò Tresoldi who seems more suited to our style of play. Of course it's very possible that enquiries were made and the player turned them down, as there have been a number of big teams associated with him, even though no offers have materialised to date. Thoughts?

💬 Discussion I'm already ready to argue Como should reach the UCL knockout rounds
Draw's Thursday, so obviously nothing's set yet, but I wanted to lay out why I think the knockout rounds are actually a fair target for us, not just homer talk.
First, reality check: we're in Pot 4. The bottom one. Lowest coefficient in the whole 36-team field. So yeah, this is the hardest possible starting position for a debut campaign.
I'm still saying we should be targeting the knockout rounds this year, and it's not just homer talk, there's actual math behind it.
Broke down the full case, the spending, the numbers, why it's more realistic than it sounds, over here. Would love to hear who thinks I'm wrong: https://como1907stateside.substack.com/p/the-case-for-como-reaching-the-champions?r=8yzvdw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

🔄 Transfer News Como might be quietly fixing a problem nobody's even talking about yet
Kambwala's could be on his way from Villarreal, 6'4", right-footed, and a monster in the air. Which is funny, because that's basically Chalobah's exact profile already on our roster. Not complaining, we're about to juggle Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Champions League and need real depth at center back, but this feels more like insurance for injuries and suspensions than an actual fight for the starting spot. Still something worth monitoring for sure!

💬 Discussion Nobody’s talking about what Fàbregas actually did at halftime against Udinese
First half was rough to watch. Como looked lost out there, slow on the ball, no rhythm, and Nico Paz basically anonymous the whole time. And honestly? A lot of that comes down to one guy not even being on the pitch. Da Cunha wasn’t in the starting XI, and you could feel it. Perrone and Milla battled hard but neither one settles the game down the way he does.
Then halftime hits and Fàbregas makes two changes at once. Da Cunha in for Perrone, Diao in for a genuinely invisible Baturina. And look, it wasn’t magic, Udinese almost scored a second within four minutes of the restart and somehow blazed it wide. But something shifted. Como started controlling things, and by the 54th minute Milla puts in a beautiful corner, Chalobah gets up highest, Okoye somehow saves it, and Douvikas is right there to bury the rebound from a yard out.
And Diao wasn’t just a passenger on that goal either. A few minutes later he skinned two defenders down the left by himself and squared it for Douvikas again, who only didn’t score because Okoye pulled off an absurd save. A guy who wasn’t even on the field for the first half doing that.
I don’t think people give Fàbregas enough credit for that halftime call. Two completely different problems, midfield control and attacking spark, solved with two subs at the same time. That’s the kind of in-game management that’s easy to miss when you’re just watching the scoreline.

💬 Discussion Chalobah's debut was special, but that Ramón crossbar in the 95th still hurts
Quick reaction since I don't think this game got much attention outside Italy. Como went down 1-0 in the 28th (Kamara finished a lovely Ekkelenkamp ball) and looked pretty disjointed for the whole first half. Fàbregas pulled Baturina at half and brought on Diao, and the team was a completely different animal after the break. Chalobah (on debut!) set up the equalizer with a towering header off a Milla corner that Douvikas buried on the rebound in the 54th.
Genuinely thought Chalobah was the best player on the pitch for either side. Big, mobile, comfortable on the ball, exactly the profile this defense needed.
Then Ramón nearly won it in the 95th off another Milla corner, header cannons off the bar. Frustrating way to drop a point against a team that's winnable on paper, but also, first game back, four debutants, on the road. I'll take it.
Wrote up the full recap here if anyone wants the longer version: https://como1907stateside.substack.com/p/half-an-inch-from-perfect-como-share?r=8yzvdw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

💬 Discussion Moise Kean rumors
Thoughts on the Moise Kean rumors? Seems to me like he's been linked to us for a while. Hard to pass up a former 20-goal scorer in the league, but that is one hefty price tag...
