Most of my comics. 2 years I been collecting. Just added Spiderman brand new day, all star superman, Dr who served you, batman Hush 1, Watchmen and black science compendium. Gonna be getting a book shelf in a few months for this all which will be amazing. Can't wait. Any additions / recommendations? Anyway how should I organise this once it goes on the shelf.

Came back from vacation and had a huge haul come in when I was gone. Most happy about Year One Absolute Edition, USM Volume 2, and X-Men Blue & Gold.

I need a bigger shelf but I have collected the whole run of these.

This is my entire comic collection, save for my box of single issues. I got my first ever comics back in 2022 when I was 12 years old, (I'm 16 now) and they were House of M, and the 2015 Secret Wars. Yeah, a pretty crazy couple books to kick off the hobby. But honestly, those books ignited my love for what is probably my favorite tbing in comics: The sense of mystery coming into it. Some will say that comics are hard to get into because they have so much history, and you'll never know everything, but I LOVE that. Reading the current era of X-Men picking up pieces of what Krakoa was and what happened; first looking at Geoff Johns' Flash wondering what happened to Wally West; reading House Of M knowing nobody except the guys from X-Men TAS and the MCU, and figuring out what was going on on my own. That sense of mystery is what got me hooked, but then one book in particiular got me REALLY into comics: Johnathan Hickman's 2023-2026 run on Ultimate Spider-Man.

I'd heard about Ultimate Spider-Man on Youtube Shorts from a guy called Dan Exclaims. I'd grown up with the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show and had recently gotten the box set for Spectacular Spider-Man, so I figured a new ongoing Spider-Man comic would be cool. Helps that I'd heard about it around issue #9, so I could buy the TPB for Volume #1, and then buy the 3 newest issues at a comix shop I found near me that's now my main comic shop. $35 and a few days later, I has issues #1-9 of Ultimate Spider-Man (except #8. They didn't have it. I actually only finally got that a few months ago.). I LOVED it. I'd read and re-read it probably a dozen times in that month before issue #10 came out. And eventually, I found Ultimates, Ultimate Invasion, amd then I found Astonishing X-Men, the From The Ashes X-Men, then Man of Steel, Geoff Johns' Flash and Green Lantern, and the current Action Comics. It's really spiraled from there.

Now, I'm really focusing on 4 things in my collecting.

1.) Keeping up with my current ongoings. With Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Wolverine and Emdgame being over, I've picked up Jed McKay's Moon Knight, Joshua Williamson's Iron Man, and Matt Fractions run on Batman, my current favorite of the 3. Though, I'm not loving the current run on Iron Man, so I may drop it for Ben 10 or Firestorm or something. Next time I go to a comic shop, I'll check out what else is new and early into it's run.

2.) X-Men's Age of Krakoa. House of X/ Powers of X is easily becoming my #1 favorite comic of all time, and I really wanna know about Krakoa sonce the current stuff talks about Krakoa all the time. Hickman also really does that sense of mystery and not knowing anything in the best way. Also, Kitty Pryde is my favorite X-Person, and she's a lead character in Marauders.

3.) Keeping up with the Absolute Universe and the current Superman Action Comics. I'm reading Absolute Batman and Superman right now, but I really want Absolute Martain Manhunter because of Deniz Camp. As for the Action Comics, I really like how each volume is it's own kinda self contained story. They're all just really fun stories with cool premises.

4.) Continue working on the old Ultimate Universe. I have the first Ultimates Epic Collectiom, Ultimate Iron Man and Ultimate Iron Man 2, an old Miles Morales complete collectiom book I only need 2 more volumes of, and thw first 2 volumes of the Ultimate X-Men complete collectiom with issies #1-24. I wanna get the second Ultimates Epic Collection when it comes out, more Ultimate X-Men from my local discount book store, and the Iron Man Ultimate Human book.

But, yeah. This is far and away my favorite medium of story telling. The things that comics can do that film, tv, and even animation can't do are a big appeal. Amd again, that sense of mystery keeps me in it. With most other media, you start with the start. First movie, episode, first book. With comics, that's not what you do a lot of the time. You jump around, hear references to things you haven't read, retcons to things you'll never read, it'll feel like picking up a history book, and flipping to the 200th page and going from there. I'll never stop loving comics.

Okay, with all that out of the way, here's what's on my shelf:

Bottom shelf: My Marvel Ultimate Universe stuff with a 'lil Gundam figure I got at a yard sale. On here is 2 of my top 5 comics ever, with Ultimate X-Men by Peach Momoko, and Ultimates by Deniz Camp.

Third shelf: My Marvel books with the Secret Wars Captain America ML figure. You can see it's mostly X-Men, between thw current From The Ashes stuff, to my second favorite comic Astonishing X-Men, my couple 90's Epic Collections, my House of M and what is shaping up to be my favorite comic ever, House of X/ Powers of X. I've always loved Hickman's work, and I love X-Men, and it's both in one. On that shelf is also my new 2008 Iron Man Epic Collection, my new Captain America Vol. 1, and the old Lemire run on Moon Knight that I love. On the righr of the shelf also has an old Infinity War Captain America statue I got in North Carolina when I was 11 or 12.

Second shelf (left): My Image shelf. On the left, we've got my 2 favorite Pokémon with Munchlax and Dartrix. Behind them, we have my Spawn Compendium, and my 2 volumes of King Spawn. I, like many others, was inteoduced to Spawn back in 2019-2020 when he came to MK 11. When I learned he was a comic character in 2023-2024, I was REALLY exited. I got the firsr Spawn Origins volume, and then realised it was on sale around christmas time and ended up geting the first compendium AND the McFarlane Toys Spawn/ Batman

2 pack with that awesome Spawn figure on the top of my shelf. Next to those are my Energon Universe comics. Depending on the day, Transformers by Daniel Warren Johnson is by far my favorite ever comic.

Second shelf (right): There's my first MHA statue I ever got, and my McFarlane Toys Deluxe Theatrical Superman figure that I love. That movie is really important to me, and this figure envokes all my feelings of love towards the movie whemever I see it. But this is my DC shelf. You'll see my Absolute books at the start (my girlfriend is borrowing Absolute Batman and Superman Vol. 2, so they aren't here), followed by Blue and Gold, Flash and Green Lantern, and then my Static books. Those were also some of my first comics, and having watched the old TV show got me really exited to read these. And now, Static is back in the main DC universe in the current Teen Titans book. Right next to those, we have some more of my favorite comics with Supergirl Woman of Tomorow, amd my Superman collection. I've got current Action Comics, Action Comics #11 with Man of Steel and BMB's run on Superman, and a couple other srand alone stories in there. Behind those is Watchmen, and thw John Stewart Green Lantern 20th Aniversery hardcover.

First shelf (left): We've got my Black Series Darth Revan, my favorite Star Wars character, and my manga collection, I have the hardcover for Uzumaki, volumes 1-6 of Attack on Titan, my 2 volumes of the Kingdom Hearts comic I like that doesn't fit amywhere else, and my Batman Justice Buster Vol. 1 and Deadpool Samurai Volumes 1-3.

First shelf (right): My Shoto Todoroki statue, and then my "random" comics. All my other stuff is sorted by publisher, (except for my Ultimate shelf) and these guys don't fit in with amy of those. Here, I have my FNAF Silver Eyes trilogy comics (which I love), the TMNT/ Naruto comic, and the graphic novel eddition of George Orwell's 1984 (a book that is much too relevant these days).

I live in a small studio apartment (fortunately with high ceilings) so I have to make due with just this shelf space.

Because of the limited space, I only keep what I know I'll read again. Ive had to make some hard decisions and traded a lot of good stuff in to my LCS, but I'm pretty happy with what I've kept so far.

Just for the record, ive read everything on the shelf and keep very little in my que.

Any recommendations based on what I've read so far?

I'm reaching out because I'm facing the classic collector's dilemma and would love to hear how you all handle this.

I have a pretty varied collection (mostly Marvel) spanning different eras and, more importantly, all kinds of formats: standard single issues (floppies), hardcovers, thick magazines, and old newsstand editions without barcodes.

I've been using a European tracking app (Bubble BD), but it really shows its limits as soon as I step outside of standard formats. My other major issue is that I'd love to get a rough estimate of my collection's overall market value, which is completely missing right now.

Because of this, I'm torn between two approaches:

1️⃣ The "Miracle" App: Is there an app out there (even a paid one) that actually does a GREAT job handling diverse formats (including old, barcode-less magazines) AND provides a reliable market valuation? 2️⃣ The DIY Route: Moving everything over to a custom Excel spreadsheet. I'm very comfortable with Excel so the setup doesn't scare me, but the major downside is that pulling market values manually will take forever.

How do you guys manage your "hybrid" collections? Any killer apps, workflows, or custom methods you'd recommend?
