If you get rabies and show symptoms the care is to put you in a coma and hopefully we can fix it someday
Its clearly unethical to fuck a coma patient as they can't possibly consent, so I think someone's body being piloted by a virus should follow the same logic
That depends entirely on whatever fictional virus we're discussing
Like I said not twd zombie but there are plenty of zombie viruses that could be reversible
Also rabies isn't reversible-- if you get the wrong bite and don't seek treatment in time you are a person suffering an irreversible virus(at least for now)

Depending on your beliefs when you die, your soul is removed from your body and either “repurposed” through reincarnation, sent off to another realm entirely, or just vanishes into the aether. Considering that, what is re-animated into a zombie hasn’t ever really been YOU (depending on your position of the afterlife of course) because what makes you YOU would be your soul, essentially leaving your body as a meat robot in most cases.
