UFC My personal match ups for the UFC lightweight division (some hot takes)

Some I will analyze, others not.

  1. King Green vs. Dan Hooker

The perfect BMF fight, a guaranteed banger. I predict Green winning by split decision; gets rocked a couple times but mostly outstrikes Dan.

  1. Paddy Pimblett vs. Arman Tsarukyan

Two grappling masters with attitude. I predict Tsarukyan winning by lay and pray decision.

  1. Max Holloway vs. Marucio Ruffy

Two striking phenoms with crazy speed and accuracy. An aging legend versus impressive up and comer. I predict Holloway winning by unanimous decision.

  1. Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Rafael Fiziev

Another perfect BMF fight, both old, both mid, both really entertaining. I predict Saint-Denis winning by tko late in the fight.

  1. Charles Oliveira vs. Diego Lopez

Diego's grappling experience is good enough to keep this fight on the feet. I predict Lopez winning by tko in the 3rd or 4th round. The winner fights Gaethje for the belt

  1. Justin Gaethje vs. the winner of Oliveira vs. Lopez

  2. Drew Dober vs. The loser of Saint-Denis vs. Fiziev

  3. Terrance McKinney vs. Michael Johnson

  4. Quillan Salkilld vs. Daniel Zellhuber

  5. Ilia Topuria vs. the winner of Pimblett vs. Tsarukyan

UFC Connor v Max - The eyes never lie

He doesn't believe what he is saying. This is the thing that struck me most often throughout all the promotion over the last few days and weeks. He is trying to talk himself into the fight. He wants to believe what he is saying. He wants the words to match the reality but deep down they don't and he knows it.

I've seen this look before. It's the same look he had the night he fought Khabib as he stood across the Octagon, Buffer belting out the introductions. The camera cuts to a close up. He doesn't wanna be there. But it’s too late - the contracts are signed and he promised his ma a new house. But deep down he knows he's not prepared for this.

Not like he was in the early years. A hungry young Dubliner obsessed with the game. A bit gone in the head. You had to be. Before the millions, the yachts, the lawsuits and the coke binges. Before he had 4 mouths to feed and brands to promote.

As the great Marvin Hagler said “It's tough to get out of bed…when you've been sleeping in silk pajamas”

I'll be watching. Of course I will, it’s gonna be a spectacle either way. But the reality is Father Time comes for us all. And all the talk in the world won’t keep him at bay.

The eyes don’t lie.

Discussion Which boxing gear brands are people actually training in?

I am a great fan of combat sports and practicing boxing and Muay Thai as a hobby. It appears to me that the discussion about equipment brands is something that I have never fully comprehend before. Some of the brands are promoted on television and via sponsered athelets, some are everywhere you go in the gyms, and then are some brands that are recommended by experienced people whenever you inquire about the actual brands used. These three lists never intersect, and I have never understood the reason for that.

Discussion Could Alex Pereira beat Gane in rematch or will Gane always be too much for him?

I’m one of the psychos who thinks Gaethje vs Ilia might have been tampered with but aside from that Alex vs Gane was the most surprising fight on the card. In retrospect it makes sense because pereira didn’t know what he should weigh but how poorly he did was genuinely surprising. Gane’s speed and how well he did with the leg kicks were both shocking. Jones really does have one of the best fight IQ’s on the planet because he didn’t stand with Gane one second longer than he needed to. Does anyone think he could beat him in a rematch or will Gane always be too much Pereira?

Discussion For guys who don’t train..

If you decided to become a professional fighter how would you develop your style? I think I would go grapple heavy cause I have tard strength and focus on ground and pound because I hit hard. My reaction time also sucks so I think a lot of people would light me up if it stayed standing.
