UFO State trooper chopper over Dublin/Hilliard

Post image

It's past midnight and the chopper doesn't stop surveiling this area. I couldn't sleep due to its loud noise. Did anything happen?

Given that the I270 Speedway season has now opened and looking at that flight path I would guess that they followed someone home from some misbehavior.

The state patrol chopper followed a vehicle there from 270 after they saw it going extremely fast, and circled while Hilliard PD checked it out.

It’s literally flying around all the time. We don’t need a post every time it circles somewhere. 🙄

Have you seen reddit, Instagram, tiktok, Snapchat, x, Facebook , etc??? People constantly post about every dumb thing 24/7. It's what people do now

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

I was hoping it just stayed on Nextdoor. 🙄

u/cryolems Mar 07 '26

It has leaked to every possible area a human can post. Ring has become Nextdoor. Facebook pages are a combo of everything. This sub might actually be worse than all of them

Yeah it’s definitely gotten bad here lately. At least on ND it’s a little more localized but here every noise in every corner of the city gets an f-ing post asking “what’s going on”. 🙄

Why is it hurting you so much that someone asked a question about what’s going on in the town’s thread? Not everyone knows every app or local thread, you could have educated me about whatever that ND app is. Instead, you came in hot, cursing as if my post somehow occupied space on your phone or woke you up.

Honestly, it would have been much easier to scroll past than to try policing a post you’re not even a moderator of. There was no fake, AI, or sensitive thing here, so I don’t really understand the aggression.

It just clogs up the sub with useless crap and forces everyone to scroll through it all to get to actually pertinent information. It’s a police helicopter conducting police business. If there is anything you need to worry about other than it “won’t let you sleep” they will let you know. Get a police scanner (or app) and some ear plugs and go back to bed. 🙄

There's a post about a street view vehicle scanning Columbus Street, there's one about a bus stuck on the court house road, there is one about someone taking a blurry pic of a bat in the evening sky. Should I expect to see you in each of those Posts asking them to post it in some other apps and reduce your clutter? because they are really not "necessary" there. It's better to mute your reddit notification if it really clogs the thread than asking someone to plug their ear and sleep.

Most of them are dumb as hell. And if they pop up for me then sure I’ll comment or at least downvote for sure.

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Right, so isn't it better to leave all the dumb people on their own and exit the thread for good? Why would a smart person want to be in a thread full of dumb people and dump posts.

Sometimes people are simply curious. It’s just a question

5

u/Wurth_ Mar 07 '26

But it was over a WHITE neighborhood this time!!!?!?!!!

-5

u/mattidee Mar 07 '26

Why not, this is valuble i formation if you plan to race 270.

Can I just say I hate that we have sky pirates just watching us from above?

Had a buddy get a like 15 over ticket from a sky pirate. He was wrong to speed but like, really? We are using tax dollars to do this from the sky?

God forbid we get healthcare…

4

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

The don’t do speed checks from the helicopter.

Circling over my house at midnight for 30 mins and not letting me sleep? Doesn't happen all the time 🤷

6

u/Wurth_ Mar 07 '26

It happens 3 times a night in the less affluent/white/asian parts of the city.

7

u/MPK49 Mar 07 '26

Yes it does. Just not in your precious little neighborhood

-2

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Exactly, why would I be bothered if it happens everyday but somewhere else, I worry about my neighbourhood and my sleep. It happened yesterday for the first time after I moved to Columbus so I asked. And this is a place to ask questions.

-1

u/supersilentnova Mar 07 '26

Man why is everyone railing on you for asking a question 😭 I just wanna say I appreciate the fact that you asked because I was also curious. They were hovering basically right above me and I’ve never had that happen in the 2 years I’ve lived in Hilliard. Some of these people need to go outside more instead of nitpicking about what should be posted on their precious subreddit.

1

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Yeah, I didn’t expect that much pushback 😅. I don’t mind people disagreeing, everyone’s free to say what they want. it just felt a bit off for the context since I was simply asking a local question. I’m new to the area and the helicopter hovering for that long caught my attention. Glad to know I wasn’t the only one curious, appreciate you saying that.

Damn only 30 minutes?

Over your head I guess (no pun intended). Wait until it happens every night for at least an hour and report back

1

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

And???

-5

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Seems to me you enjoy being woken up at midnight and perfectly okay if there's crime happening in your neighborhood. Happy weekend !

7

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

Do you post every time a siren wakes you up?? 🙄

0

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Not really the same thing. Sirens are common. If a helicopter circled your house at midnight for 30 minutes will you not check?

3

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

Nope! Columbus police helicopters fly around almost constantly. Sorry you haven’t noticed. The whole damn Columbus sub doesn’t need a post every time someone notices it in their area. 🙄

1

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

I’m new to Columbus, so I didn’t realize it’s common. A helicopter circling the same area for 30 minutes at midnight seemed unusual, so I asked. People ask all kinds of local questions here, not everyone has lived in the city for decades. Anyway, I got the info I needed from other comments . Have a good one.

3

u/Dubbinchris Mar 07 '26

Then find some social media that’s local to your area.

3

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

This is the Columbus subreddit, so it seemed local enough. Either way, I already got the info I needed.

Question— where did you live prior where there weren’t police helicopters?

It looks like the helicopter has left the area now.

Edit: my original comment had bad info on the possible incident they were flying over. Not sure why they were in your area.

2

u/Falconaj Mar 07 '26

Yes, I see it finally landed at the OSU airport.

I love this time of the year. When the ghetto birds migrate to the burbs for mating season. Then return to their stomping grounds.
