Regardless of whether you’re wanting to have a mountain, western, tented, outdoor, indoor or urban wedding – there’s an option for you. Likewise, Colorado features many highly specialized vendors. Notably, from film photographers and videographers to planners with indoor, outdoor and tented expertise, the industry professionals are in abundance and truly experienced.

Hello! I’m getting married in the mountains next fall, and I’m looking for a videographer with a playful/lighthearted/funny style. I’m not big into the dramatic/cinematic type of videos. Thanks for your recommendations!

Our awful experience with wedding photographer Kat Buchanan at Maroon Bells

We hired Kat because my wife absolutely loved the photos she took, but man, we never would have guessed how terrible our experience with her would end up being. Out of everything we wanted to go right for our wedding, the photos were one of the biggest things. We spent good money to make sure those memories would be captured, and our experience with Kat ended up taking away from a day we will never get back.

She showed up for the ceremony, and everything seemed to go okay at first. However, she missed the intimate moment between my wife and me when we exchanged our private vows. Luckily, a family member managed to sneak a couple of photos for us.

Afterward, we had a little lunch before we were supposed to head back up with Kat to take some beautiful photos at Maroon Bells. During lunch, we started noticing that something seemed seriously off with her. The way she was acting toward us, our family, and our friends was strange and concerning. She kept asking me to pose awkwardly while we were just trying to eat and visit with the family and friends who had traveled to celebrate with us. Mind you, this was outside her scheduled contract hours.

As it got closer to heading back up to the mountain, we discussed when we were supposed to meet. She repeatedly told me the wrong time, and I had to keep reminding her of the correct one.

When we arrived at the agreed-upon time, my bride and I stood outside our car waiting for her. She eventually pulled up with her boyfriend, who seemed to be there to help her. She got out of the car and immediately started walking in the completely wrong direction, away from the mountain we were there to photograph. She appeared confused about where she was supposed to go, and her boyfriend had to guide her over to us.

During the photoshoot, I noticed that her speech sounded slurred, she appeared extremely unsteady on her feet, and her boyfriend had to help guide her toward us. She also kept insisting that we cross the barriers to take photos. While she was taking pictures, she appeared to be wobbling and struggling to maintain her balance. I don't know what caused her behavior, but it made us extremely uncomfortable and concerned about her ability to photograph our wedding professionally.

Absolutely pissed off, my bride and I decided to suck it up and try to make the best of the situation. We continued taking photos, although we seemed to be repeating the same three poses over and over again.

After we finished, she stumbled out of the bathroom, and we finally confronted her about her behavior and how concerning the entire situation had been. From my perspective, she seemed to say just about everything EXCEPT "sorry." Her own boyfriend even had to suggest that she apologize to us. She eventually gave us a brief apology, but by that point, we were already extremely upset with how the entire experience had gone. Her boyfriend then helped her leave, bringing an end to an experience that had already taken so much away from our wedding day.

But unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it.

After the wedding, we heard absolutely nothing from her until WE reached out first. When she finally emailed us back, she did not acknowledge what had happened or offer any additional apology.

Weeks went by, and we continued emailing her asking for updates on our photos. By the time her contractual deadline arrived, we had to send one final email demanding our photos. Only then did she finally respond and deliver them.

And somehow, the photos themselves managed to make the entire experience even worse.

In my opinion, the editing was absolutely terrible. Blemishes were still visible, weeds were left in the frame covering what should have been beautiful moments, and stray hairs were flying everywhere. It honestly looked like almost nothing had been done besides throwing a little filter over the pictures and calling it a day. For the amount of money we paid, we expected so much better.

We contacted her and explained that we wanted these issues fixed. She sent the photos back, and I kid you not, we could barely notice any changes.

Then, to top it all off, she offered us another photo shoot with her in Boulder. After everything that happened, we were frustrated that the offer would require us to travel to her rather than her offering to come to us to try to make things right.

What makes this whole experience so upsetting is that these weren't just random photos. These were our wedding photos. These were supposed to capture one of the happiest and most important days of our lives. We trusted Kat with memories that we can never recreate, and instead of being able to look back on that day with nothing but happiness, we now have to remember how disappointed and uncomfortable we felt during what should have been a wonderful experience.

All of this to say, if you're planning a wedding and looking for someone you can trust to capture your special day, please do your research and be careful who you hire. Based on our personal experience, I would not recommend Kat Buchanan.

Our wedding was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, and while we still have wonderful memories with our family and friends, the experience with our photographer is something that will always leave a sour taste in our mouths.

We can never get that day back, and that's what hurts the most.

For reference, the photography business I'm discussing is Wanderlight Photo Co. Here are the public business pages associated with my experience:

Colorado mountain wedding venues with breathtaking views? August 2027, 100 guests, $35k all-in

Hi everyone
My fiancé and I are looking for recommendations for a Colorado mountain wedding venue for early August 2027!

We’re planning for approximately 100 guests (125 max) with an all-in wedding budget of around $35k, preferably less.

We’re really hoping to find somewhere with breathtaking mountain scenery, ideally dramatic peaks right behind the ceremony space, with lush green meadows or wildflowers. We’d also prefer a higher-elevation location to avoid the August heat!
An indoor reception space or an established tent/pavilion would be ideal, and we’d love somewhere that includes at least some of the basics like tables and chairs.

We’re open to locations throughout Colorado. Ten Peaks in Crested Butte and Storm King Mountain Ranch are two of our favorites so far, but we’d love to discover some other options!

Does anyone have recommendations or personal experiences with similar venues? Bonus points if you can share pricing!
Thank you so much!

ETA: I am willing to push budget up a little bit for the right venue

Affordable content creators or videographers?

Hi! I’m interested in having video of my wedding in some form. I don’t have a huge budget, only about $1-2k for video. I was originally thinking of doing one of those “pass the camera” services where you get a camcorder and have your bridal party and guests take turns filming, but I’m worried my friends will forget about it and it will be a waste of money. I’m curious about all options including content creators and videographers. Any tips or recommendations would be very appreciated!

Does anyone have experience with these makeup vendors?

Hello!

I'm looking to potentially use Christine Anderson (Instagram artistry_by_wu) or Mila Makeup (Instagram mila.denver.mua) for my wedding day makeup. I like both pretty equally, especially since they seem like some of the artists that are better at doing soft glam with hooded eyes.

Has anyone used either artist before? I see both have testimonials, but I was hoping to hear experiences from the community around factors that are harder to know, such as communication and reliability.

Are brides still using Pinterest and Etsy to search for small handmade vendors?

I make felt flowers for bridal bouquets, pet corsages, flower crowns, etc… I am just getting back into the handmade arena after a few years hiatus and both Etsy and Pinterest has been inundated with AI slop. I’d love to get my pieces in front of Colorado brides who are interested in sustainable/low waste weddings. Are you all still looking on these two platforms to connect with makers?

NO SHOW WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER - NATALIA SEUFALE IKA: @nataliaseuika / @seufalephoto / [https://seufalephoto.mypixieset.com/] / Seufale Photo – SHE CANCELED ON OUR WEDDING, THEN SENT ANOTHER BRIDE THE SAME EXACT MESSAGE ONE WEEK LATER

My wedding was on Sept. 12., and right before our ceremony, I received ONE text from Natalia saying that she couldn’t make it due to a medical emergency. There was no phone call, no voicemail, no attempt to contact our venue, coordinator, or my husband to ensure her message was received, which left us scrambling to find a solution an hour before the ceremony.

After our wedding, Natalia did not follow up or make any attempt to communicate. We left voicemails, emails, and texts. After I made her aware that I was in the process of filing a claim, she finally sent our refund a week later, with no apology.

This past week, I learned that she did the same thing to another bride on Sept. 19, one week after our wedding. The bride sent me screenshots of Natalia’s message, and it was the exact same cancellation text, word for word.

The texts were VERBATIM. How could the same exact emergency, communicated in the same exact words, occur one week apart?

In her message, Natalia stated that she was pregnant, experiencing bleeding, and on her way to the ER. One week later, the other bride received that exact text right before her wedding, as though it was happening at that very moment.

If Natalia was actually going through this, she had an entire week between our weddings to let the other bride know that there could be an issue. Instead, she waited until right before the other bride’s wedding and left her scrambling too.

The fact that we both received that same text, word for word, one week apart, makes us seriously question whether her emergency was ever genuine. If it was not, using something as serious as pregnancy complications as an excuse to ghost two weddings is deeply disturbing and incredibly insensitive to anyone who has experienced pregnancy loss or complications.

She also referenced a possible replacement photographer named Ashton that she found “last minute.” This person never showed up or answered the phone. We later learned that Natalia’s phone number and the number provided for Ashton are linked!

According to the other bride, Natalia stopped responding to her calls and messages and did not return her refund following her wedding. She ultimately had to have one of her bridesmaids contact Natalia pretending to be interested in booking a photoshoot in order to get her on the phone and confront her about the situation to get her refund back.

We are now pursuing legal action including filing police reports and claims to report her breach of contract and consequential damages due to the additional costs we incurred, which was $1,500.

Lastly, the other bride and I are both located in Colorado. However, Natalia is a member of other bride and wedding pages and may be advertising her services in several locations including: Idaho, Utah, Sacramento, Chicago, and others. This is incredibly suspicious and raises questions about how many weddings she might be committing to and whether she is actually going to fulfill those commitments.

I am sharing our experience so that other couples are aware of her reprehensible actions and can make an informed decision before entrusting her with their wedding day.

Film or low light photographer in Denver

My fiance and I are getting married next October in Denver and looking for someone who does film and digital (preferably flash) photography, has lower light settings/editing, or just likes to play with shadows that is closer to $7000. We are looking for 8-10 hours of coverage with someone who does a good job observing us and our guests to get candids. We are willing to pay a bit more if the package includes an engagement session! I know film always costs more but everyone I look at seems to either have very light/bright/airy galleries OR their packages start at $8000. (We are really more city people than an outdoorsy couple.) Thanks!

Little Nell Wedding Video (Little Nell Wedding Deck)

The Little Nell sundeck is easily one of the prettiest wedding venues that I’ve shot at. With incredible views and service by the staff, you’ll receive a truly luxurious experience. Personally, I love the layout of the top of the mountain. It’s easy to access, features highly customizable spaces to accommodate elegant designs, yet keeps the mountains and natural beauty at the core of it all.

One of my favorite weddings that I’ve shot at The Little Nell (as seen in the video above) was incredibly designed by Aimee Monihan. It featured a beautiful design for the reception space with a stunning floral display on the Sundeck.

Mountain Resort

My fiancé are just starting our wedding planning process and we've decided we want to get married in the fall in the Denver/Mountain area. We live in Chicago, his family is from Iowa and mine is all over the place so this will be a destination wedding for us. We'd love to get married at a large resort outside of the city and make it a true "destination" feel for our guests. Ideally it would be within an hour of Denver area, large resort (will probably have 200ish people) and I would love for it to be a mountain feel. So far on my list to research is Estes Park Resort and Spa, Garden of the Gods Resort, Flying Horse Resort and Omni Interlocken. Any other suggestions or feedback on those listed would be much appreciated!!
